Why The World Was A Much Happier Place In The 60's

The photo and the just of this barbaric article have me thinking it is the 1860's.
So glad though we have made progress and huge strides from this time. I would not have cut it back then with my socks that I wear to bed every night. I love that my husband lets me sleep in each morning.

From age three, Johnson would frequently sing for her large extended family. By age seven, she was receiving vocal training, participating in festivals with her local youth choir, and giving solo performances at school and community functions. She entered many talent contests and festivals, winning a National Anthem Contest at the age of 11, with her rendition of the National Anthem being heard on national television. A cute and jaunty little tune.

Dads Deal Of The Week

My Dad just sent me an Email telling me about this uber cool deal that Dairy Queen is featuring right now. There is not alot of advertising reflecting this promo of the moment so make sure to pass it along. No coupon is needed. My Dads Email offers some good advice regarding size selection.

"Mom and I just got back from getting these. It's a good deal if you like blizzards. The 25 cent one can be any size up to the size that you pay regular price for but why would you get a small one? We bought two large ones, ate a bit of each, brought the rest home and put them into about 8 or 9 small dishes and stuck them in the freezer."

"If you couldn't or didn't want to bring any home and didn't have enough people to eat them all or who wanted to eat them all you could always buy 2 small ones for the price of one plus 25 cents and it would be cheaper than buying one large one."

My Dad and I may have alot in common and one of them is that we both like Blizzards but ........I can eat a large one in one sitting.

Song Of The Day: Walk A Mile In My Shoes By Elvis Presley

Elvis saw the social significance of this song and wanted to cover it.

Paying To Pee

Ryanair Airlines will introduce a charge for using the toilet. It'll cost you £1 or 1euro to spend a penny, and the toilets will be coin operated. To add insult to injury they are also cutting the number of onboard toilets, to just one. So if you're caught short not only will you have to pay for the privilege of using the loo, but you'll also have to queue with the other 180 odd passengers first.

The charge will be introduced after the summer holiday rush.

I'm looking forward to seeing how many children (and adults) just decide to piss in their pants instead.

This Week I......

Worked 2 twelve hour night shifts.
Went to see my GP for a follow up to last weeks episode of angioedema and discuss the negative and disturbing effects I was having on the Prednisone......depression, crying episodes, auditory and visual hallucinations, etc.

Learned that some people develop a type of psychosis (I remember crying to Garth and saying something is wrong with me. I feel like one of my patients) from Prednisone so it was a good thing I stopped taking.

Took Brooke to GP for checkup.

Went to urgent care to get antibiotics for eye /sinus infection

Went out for lunch with Brooke and spent a mother daughter afternoon.

Bought my daughter her Netbook for her 13th birthday. Alley has now taken claim of my laptop.

Attended Brookes Science Fair at school and was blown away by some of the students and their creativity.

Who knew you could make a lamp from a pickle?

Began watching season 1 of The Wire.......good and gritty.

Continued to watch Season 4 of Rescue Me

Attended my bookclub where we reviewed this book.

I think I might want to watch the film production with Dustin Hoffman and John Malkovich.

It is truly a brilliant novel / play that touches upon many themes.

Hosted my daughters 13th birthday party that involved a dinner and sleepover with 6 of her besties.

I watched The Hurt Locker.........great flick.

Song Of The Day: Your Love Is My Drug By Kesha

Todays song is for the teen ager in the house. Her and her besties loooovvvveeee this song.

Brookie Becomes A Teen

She has her own Facebook Account and she MSNs with friends and family daily.

She is into Justin Bieber, Keesha, Lady GaGa.

She spends time texting her friends.

She is moody.

She is on team Jacob.......but really much prefers Damon from Vampire Diaries.

She watches..........The Biggest Loser, 16 & Pregnant, Family Guy, Ugly Betty, Vampire Diaries and Survivor.

She wears skinny jeans, plaid shirts, tank tops, hoodies, headbands, flip flops & Uggs.

She spends alot of time in the bathroom.

She spends alot of time in front of the mirror.

She is one of the two best things I have ever done.

Thirteen years ago, I would sit on our couch for hours with this girls tiny tush cupped in the palm of my hand and yet now by the nature of science and time she now occupies the majority of the couch when she sprawls out on it. She stands beside me and she cheers "I'm almost as tall as you now!"

She has begun to spread her wings as she now goes to the cinema with her girlfriends and not me. I struggle with these new milestones of independence as she journeys her way into the world and I just keep repeating "She'll be alright. She'll be alright. She'll be alright." I can't always be the one making sure of that, but I have to trust that she'll ensure it.

Happy birthday Brooke..... My world changed when you came into it. You deserve every bit of that world you create.

Song Of The Day:Disarm By The Smashing Pumpkins

The BBC banned this song from appearing on Top of the Pops, because of the lyric "cut that little child", and it received little radio airplay in the United Kingdom. That lyric along with lyrics like "what I choose is my choice" and "the killer in me is the killer in you" has also led to some controversy, as some read it as implying that abortion is murder. Corgan, however, has clearly asserted that the song is about the shaky relationship he had with his parents while growing up.

This Week I........

Had the wackiest week ever.

Celebrated Easter Monday with my family........Ham, Scalloped Potatoes, Mixed Vegetables, Rolls, Apple Crumble Pie & Ice Cream.......yummmm!

Went for a 3 km jog along the fitness trail and on the way home broke out in hives all over my body. My eyes swelled up to to the size of golfballs and the palms of my hands and my feet were so itchy that they were in pain. Went home and took some Benedryl......no relief.

Went to Emerg and was given priority treatment. They became concerned when my O2 sat was 91%. An IV was started and I was treated with more antihistamines and Prednisone. I was quite sedated ( either from the meds or lack of oxygen in my blood stream ) which was probably a good thing as I was placed next to a young asian gentleman who had recently been involved in a motor vehicle accident and sustained a head injury and was being treated for same. I was still there when his pastor arrived and they were able to use him as an interpreter to relay information to him as he spoke Mandarin. The man kept asking about his wife and how was she....where was she? It was painful to hear his cry when they informed him that she died from the injuries she sustained. We later learned through the course of the evening that they were hit by a drunk driver. I can't stop thinking about this young man and how his life changed in a moment.

I was eventually sent home with a diagnosis of idiopathic angioedema and instructions to rest with more antihistamines and steroids to take through the week.

These meds have reeked havoc on me and I had to stop after day three. I developed an irregular pulse and would have episodes of dizziness and blacking out. I felt so disconnected from my body and it was quite frightening how I felt when I was on these meds. It is now day 2 or 3 since I have stopped and I am just beginning to feel like myself again.

I took two of my scheduled nightshifts off under the direction of my GP and have slept the days and nights away.

I was able to watch Rachel Getting Married and quite enjoyed it.

Tonight I watched My Life In Ruins and it was a cute little escape from reality.

Lady Gaga May Sing James Bond Theme

Lady Gaga may be singing the film's next theme song.
The eccentric singer, who's devotion to drama can not be denied, has beaten off previous contenders like Amy Winehouse - who blew her chance to sing in Quantum of Solace due to her epic summer of madness.

But Gaga's participation is not assured. The singer Michael Bubble is also contending to submit a demo this time. The best effort will get the gig.

There's plenty of time to get the tune right too because filming has been put back - partly due to the recession and partly to make the film 3D.

Until a title is decided for the next Bond movie, starring Daniel Craig, it's being referred to as Bond 23.

RIP: John Forsythe

John Forsythe, the handsome, smooth-voiced actor who made his fortune as the scheming oil tycoon in TV's "Dynasty" and the voice of the leader of "Charlie's Angels" has died after a yearlong battle with cancer. He was 92.

Forsythe died late Thursday at his home in Santa Ynez from complications of pneumonia, publicist Harlan Boll said Friday.

"He died as he lived his life, with dignity and grace," daughter Brooke Forsythe said.

Song Of The Day: Mountain Men By Crash Kings

No wonder I like this tune.....MTV has noted this song's many influences....comparing the lead vocals to those of The White Stripes, noting a "theatrical piano-driven back-up" reminiscent of Ben Folds, as well as an "epic guitar crunch a la Weezer emulating Queen."

Song Of The Day: Fool On The Hill By Paul McCartney

In keeping with April Fools Day.
The website Song Facts reveals.......Paul McCartney wrote this. It's about a man who is considered a fool by others, but whose foolish demeanor is actually an indication of wisdom. An event which prompted this song happened when Paul was walking his dog Martha, on Primrose Hill one morning. As he watched the sun rise, he noticed that Martha was missing. Paul turned around to look for his dog, and there a man stood, who appeared on the hill without making a sound. The gentleman was dressed respectably, in a belted raincoat. Paul knew this man had not been there seconds earlier as he had looked in that direction for Martha. Paul and the stranger exchanged a greeting, and this man then spoke of what a beautiful view it was from the top of this hill that overlooked London. Within a few seconds, Paul looked around again, and the man was gone. He had vanished as he had appeared. A friend of McCartney's, Alistair Taylor, was present with Paul during this strange incident, and wrote of this event in his book, Yesterday.

Both Paul and Alistair could not imagine what happened to this man. He had seemed to vanish in thin air. The nearest trees for cover were too far to reach by walking or running in a few seconds, and the crest of the hill was too far as well to reach in that short time. What made the experience even more mysterious, was that just before this man first appeared, Paul and Alistair were speaking to each other of the beauty they observed of the view towards London and the existence of God. Once back home, they spent the morning discussing what had happened, trying to make some sense of it. They both agreed that this was something others were infer occurred as a result of an "acid trip," but they both swore they had not taken or used any drugs.
