Twenty Weirdest TV Interviews

You may seen some of them before (Tom Cruise on Oprah, Madonna/Courtney Love at the MTV Awards), others might be new to you.
For instance, I'd never watched Norm MacDonalds appearance on Conan in 1997. Sometimes, these wacky moments seem planned, but other times they definitely do not.

Song Of The Day: At The Bottom Of Everything By Bright Eyes

Bright Eyes are an American band. The video is fascinating yet odd. I love the story for the intro at the beginning.

Underground Parking Tower For Bikes

Here is a cool concept that the city of Toronto should adopt to assist in the reduction of bike thefts.
In Tokyo you can park your bicycle underground, neatly, safely and automatically. You swipe your card, doors open, and you place your front wheel on a docking device that whisks your bike away into an underground storage facility that can hold up to 144 bicycles.
When you want to retrieve your bike, you swipe your card again and in ten seconds or less, your bicycle magically reappears

4.) Lists can spark debate.

My Thoughts On Lost

Sorry I am late in sharing my thoughts on this weeks episode....but work and life sometimes gets in the way of my blog.
Better late than never.

I wonder if Ben or someone from his side killed Helen, knowing if she was around..... would Locke have wanted to return to the island or kill himself?

I am still reluctant to say that Ben is definately evil. Maybe Ben had to kill Locke so he could be resurrected. Maybe there is some rule against suicide, so Ben had to do it. It seemed to bother him, and when he yelled at Sun and Jack in the van he said, "You have no idea what I've had to do to keep you safe." Perhaps Ben is the one who has to get his hands dirty.

Did you notice that when Locke was hanging him self that the beams on the ceiling made a cross.

Widmore seems less manipulative than Ben when he makes his case....almost sincere and notice how Ben is always in dark clothing ande Widmore in light?

Now that we’ve seen Locke come back to life after returning to the island, is it plausible to believe that Christian might be alive too? Is this just another aspect of the island’s healing powers?

Song Of The Day: It's a Beautiful Morning By The Rascals

Written by band members Felix Cavaliere and Eddie Brigati, this is an upbeat, optimistic song . While the late '60s were a tumultuous time in America and a lot of the music dealt with social and political issues of the time, The Rascals provided hopeful songs that were a welcome relief for many listeners.

Today Is Do Over Day

Imagine re-enjoying your first kiss, the birth of your first child, or even your first marriage. Picture yourself re-experiencing the fabulous meals you’ve eaten, the exotic lands you’ve visited, the epic raves you cannot recall attending. Conversely, visualize yourself making amends for your life’s imperfect moments – the time you made a pass at your wife’s sister and got caught, or the night driving home from the pub when you accidentally ran over your neighbour’s shihtzu, or that scathing company-wide email you fired off in a huff one fateful day, back when your career was still on track. And think about all the do overs you would suggest to others.
Apparently February 26th is Do Over Day. This is the one time of year when all Canadians can revisit and/or repair the significant moments of their lives.

Elton Vs. Billy Quiz

Billy Joel and Elton John were born and raised on different sides of the Atlantic, but have had eerily similar careers. Both broke onto the scene around 1970 as piano balladeers, and both became huge stars after expanding their sound for rock radio.
Can you identify which of these clips of hit songs are Billy's, and which belong to Elton? Good luck!

Harry Potter Theme Park To Open In 2010

How cool is this?
It is slated to open in 2010, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be a theme park at Universal Orlando based on the world’s most famous magical boy.
The 20-acre park will be located in Universal’s Islands of Adventure, which are themed “islands” built around a lagoon and currently comprises Seuss Landing, Marvel SuperHero Island, Toon Island, Jurassic Park and The Lost Continent.
Universal isn’t saying much yet about what the park will include, but so far it looks like there will be a Hogwarts Castle, a village of Hogsmeade, and a Three Broomsticks Pub.

Song Of The Day: Fruit Machine By The Ting Tings

This single was limited to a 500-copy run.
The vinyl was only available for fans of The Ting Tings to buy at their live shows. Every single released had different cover art. This is due to the fact that at every concert, a hundred blank seven-inch sleeves were pinned to a wall, making a canvas on which fans could create an overall piece of artwork that, once dismantled, were used as the sleeves for the singles

What's Your Energy Level?

I took this little test and found it to be fairly accurate. It revealed this:

Your Energy Level is Moderate

For you, life is all about balance. You keep active, but you rest a lot too.

You have enough vigor to get everything done... with a little left over for some fun.

You find that you have plenty of energy, as long as you give yourself time to recharge.

But if you don't take care of yourself, you notice that your energy levels really plummet.

Whats Your Valentine's Day Personality

Precisely!!!!

Your Valentine's Day Personality is Practical

As far as you're concerned, Valentine's Day is simply a commercial holiday.

You don't place any real meaning on it. You don't think it deserves too much celebration.

For you, Valentine's Day is just the day you avoid restaurants and candy stores.

If you love someone, you already show it. You don't need to go all out for a silly holiday to prove your love.

Song Of The Day: A Case of You By Diana Krall

A Case of You" is a song by Joni Mitchell, from her 1971 album Blue. Some Mitchell biographers believe that the song was inspired by her love affair with Leonard Cohen. It is also believed that it was her formal goodbye to her partner Graham Nash.
It has been covered by various artists such as Prince, K.D. Lang, Tori Amos, and Colin Meloy of the Decemberists. It is this version I love best.

Song Of The Day: Life Of Illusion By Foo Fighters

"A Life of Illusion" is a popular single by former Eagles member Joe Walsh from 1981It appeared as the opening track on the soundtrack album for The 40-Year Old Virgin.

My Husband.....The Caveman

My husband can't seem to juggle as much as I can? I have a fulltime job, I'm a parent , I do errands, I am expected to know what we're having for dinner, make the plans for the weekend, and help keep the house clean. When I ask him what he wants for dinner, he'll say "I don't know, or I don't care." So, then I have to decide that too.

In the cavetimes, men were hunters and they needed to focus in on their prey in order to bring back game as meat for the tribe.

During caveman times, this narrow focus was essential so the hunter wouldn't get distracted and lose the prey in the underbrush.

I believe Garth has retained that ability to focus, and that often gets mistaken for not caring. He often gets locked in on a TV show (Family Guy, Trailor Park Boys, MXC) and when I come in and start talking to him, he does not hear a word I say. I then get annoyed because I think he is ignoring me, but the truth is......he is locked in and hunting.

Hearing Aids Needed

During the past month I have been attending the hearing clinic at Mt. Sinai for testing of my hearing.
Since receiving radiation and chemotherapy treatment in the summer of 2007, I have been adjusting fairly well to the new norms that I have to live with. I am able to cope because I have a bag of tricks that I use whenever necessary.
However now that I am back to work full time I am finding it harder to live fully and function as a mental health nurse to the best of my capability due to my hearing loss.
I work on a very busy admitting floor where patients come in at their most unwell state. This often means they are fully psychotic and paranoid. They often have persecutory delusions that people are out to get them and are saying and thinking bad things about them.
In my line of work it is imperative that I establish a therapeutic relationship with my patients and to do this I must establish trust.
To establish trust I must listen to my patients and hear what is causing their distress.
I must encourage my patients to dialogue with me.
When I am able to establish a dialogue my patients often mumble and speak with their heads turned away as they are often distracted by auditory or visual hallucinations. This poses a challenge at the best of times but is even more so when you throw in a hearing impairment.
It becomes awkward and can escalate an already paranoid client when I tell him that he must look at me when he speaks(so I can read his lips) and hear him clearly.
The trust becomes difficult to maintain when I am asking "Pardon" for the 3rd or 4th time.

Yesterday afternoon I attended the audio clinic at Mt. Sinai. It has been established that I have severe hearing loss of high pitch sounds in both ears and that I have difficulty processing sounds when there is a lot of background noise.

The nursing station where I spend a bulk of my day can have as many as 8-10 different conversations taking place at once as well as telephones and buzzers going off in the background. The nursing station itself is enclosed in glass and let me tell you that glass is not acoustically pleasing. It causes echos and I hear them all the time. Yesterday I learned I will now require hearing aids in both ears. I was hopeful of being able to wear invisible ones but the audiologist explained to me that with the type of hearing loss I have they do not want to occlude my ear openings and therefore are recommending the over the ear type. Check these puppies out. This is the pair they are reccommending for the low cost of $4210.00.

Feel free to make donations.

Valentine Craft With Kids

Crayon shavings melted between wax paper and then cut into hearts make a beautiful display in windows.
1.) Make lots of crayon shavings with a pencil sharpener.

2.) Place shavings on a piece of wax paper.

3.) Place another piece of wax paper on top.

4.) Iron on the lowest setting for about 1 second.

5.) Cut out hearts, hole punch and tie on ribbon.......and hang.

You can go always go longer after checking to see if the shavings have melted. Be careful to not burn the wax paper. It is a good idea to do the ironing on a piece of newspaper. Some shavings could leak out of the sides and it does leave a residue underneath the wax paper. If you are worried about your iron, just place your wax paper between two sheets of newspaper or scrap paper.

The Single Lady With The 14 Babies

I can’t imagine how hard it is going to be for this woman. I hope she has reliable people lined up to help her care for these kids. I feel that it was irresponsible for the fertility clinic to proceed with the implantation of so many embryos regardless of how many children she already had. I do think that she is being judged more harshly because she is a single mom. It takes so much time and money to raise a kid, deciding to be a single parent would be a very difficult choice to make. Deciding to be a single parent to 14 seems crazy.

Speaking with the girls at work the other night, we were asking who you would pick for your freebie list.

This question always resurfaces every now and then and my choices were always consistent. So I took this question home and decided to give it further pondering as I think some of my choices have changed. If you read this I challenge you to list your pretend celebrity boyfriends or girlfriends. You can have up to 8. So here are mine:

1.) Ewan McGregor..... the hottest Jedi ever and he cleans up nice in Moulin Rouge. He has a winning smile.
2.) Ed Norton......you have to admit he looked hot in American History X.
3.) Jeffrey Dean Morgan.....rugged and handsome with a gravelly voice.....nice.
4.) Clive Owen.....Mmm, those eyes... Mmmm, that accent... So the teeth are a little rough, but eh, he's British, so it's allowed.
5.) Gerard Butler.....this dude's appeal is that he's not a pretty-boy.

6.) Robert Downy Jr.......see below......swoon!!

Chuckle Of The Day

A Norwegian fella wants a job, but the dean won't hire him until he passes a little math test.

Here is your first question, the dean said. 'Without using numbers,
represent the number 9.'

'Without numbers?' The Norwegian says, 'Dat's easy.' and proceeds to
draw three trees.

'What's this?' the dean asks.

'Vot! you got no brain? Tree and tree and tree make nine,' says the
Norwegian.

'Fair enough,' says the dean. 'Here's your second question. Use the
same rules, but this time the number is 99.'

The Norwegian stares into space for a while, then picks up the picture
that he has just drawn and makes a smudge on each tree. 'Dar ya go.'

The dean scratches his head and says, 'How on earth do you get that to
represent 99?'

'Each of da trees is dirty now. So, it's dirty tree, and dirty tree,
and dirty tree. Dat is 99.'
The dean is getting worried that he's going to actually have to hire
this Norwegian, so he says, 'All right, last question.
Same rules again, but represent the number 100.'

The Norwegian fella stares into space some more, then he picks up the
picture again and makes a little mark at the base of each tree and
says, 'Dar ya go. Von hundred.'

The dean looks at the attempt. 'You must be nuts if you think that
represents a hundred!'

The Norwegian leans forward and points to the marks at the base of each
tree and says, 'A little dog come along and pooped by each tree So
now you got dirty tree and a turd, dirty tree and a turd, and dirty
tree and a turd, vich makes von hundred.'
'So, ven do I start?
