My Thoughts On Lost

Last nights episode was bizarre. Garth thought it was terrific and I thought it was confusing and overwhelming as hell.
I didn't know if Desmond was having flash forwards of flashbacks for about hoslf of the episode.

Pennys dad has some kind of tie to the island.

The phone call to Penny was really sweet. It was the highlight of the show for me.

Desmond can time travel because of his electromagnetic/radiation exposure during the explosion of the hatch.

Reflections In Red

As I mentioned in January, I have been having fun with my new camera and now take it with me where ever I go.
I have decided that I am going to begin picking a color theme associated with each month and post the things I see in my life that hold that colour.

February is a red month.
Red is the colour of love as we celebrate Valentines Day. We cannot forget that it is Heart and Stroke Month. Red is an emotionally intense color, that stimulates a faster heartbeat and breathing.

Deal Of The Day

Pizza Pizza has 5 more new deals which are pretty good and may come in handy if you live or plan on visiting Toronto soon. Might be a good March break idea.

Mark March 20th On Your Calender

In honor of what would have been Mister Rogers' 80th birthday on March 20th everyone everywhere is being asked to wear their favorite sweater on that day. Won't you wear a sweater?

My Thoughts On Big Brother

Last nights episode was boring.

I found it amusing when Alex tells us he won't campaign against Mattie, since they're friends and then Matt tells us that he'll certainly campaign against Alex.

Julie Chen asks Sheila how things are between her and Allison, and it doesn't really seem like things have improved. Sheila says that Allison can't be trusted. Allison just sits there offering no rebuttal. Strange.

Joshua celebrates his HOH win just a little too over the top for my liking. I really don't like him.

A Step Back To The 60's

I thought my dad and my friends Heather and Dorothy my enjoy this step back to the 60's.

Ellen DeGeneres Doesn't Know Alot About Balls

American Idol Recap - Girls Night

Carly Smithson - Crazy On You...............Holy strong vocals. That was quite a workout for her. She is panting.

Syesha Mercado - Me and Mr. Jones...........I agree with Randy. She sings well during the strong parts but is unremarkable during the softer parts.

Brooke White - You're So Vain.........Great song choice. I enjoyed it.

Ramiele Malubay - Don't Leave Me This Way...........I didn't like the song choice for her. I was underwhelmed.

Kristy Lee Cook - You're No Good........I liked it.

Amanda Overmyer - Carry On My Wayward Son.......I was not likeing the Cruella Deville hair, her pants or her performance. I think she may be going home.

Alaina Whitaker - Hopelessly Devoted To You..........I wasn't feeling it.

Alexandrea Lushington - If You Leave Me Now........A weak performance.

Kady Malloy - Magic Man........She is selling herself short. I think she can do way better. I really like this chicks personality and want to root for her.

Asia’h Epperson - All By Myself..........She did not sing this song well.

My Thoughts On Big Brother

This episode was the third time they showed us the recap of the House versus Amanda fight. It is getting old.

When Alex was sitting outside pouting over him and amanda being nominated, wearing his hoodie and glaring, I thought he looked like the unibomber.

During the veto competition James chose to wear a pink thermal top and short shorts. Hmmmmm............???? I don't get this guy.

Nothing like a good health scare to restore civility. The low sugar seizure episode was the best thing that's happened to Amanda since she got to this house. The houseguests can't stop talking about her and how they feel like crap for the way they've been treating her. I'm sure the new found love won't last long.

American Idol Recap - Guys Night

Michael Johns - You Can Go Your Own Way.................Not a good song choice. He usually has such a strong voice. His performance was okay.

Jason Castro - I Just Want To Be Your Everything............I like how he brings his guitar to the stage. A true musician. I thought he was decent.

Luke Menard - Killer Queen...........The song was way too big for him.

Robbie Carrico - Hot Blooded.........Too subdued. I don't think I like any of them tonight.

Danny Noriega - Superstar............I just can't take this guy seriously

David Hernandez - Papa Is A Rolling A Stone..........Solid performance. Best of the night.

Jason Yeager - Long Train Running.........I didn't find him as bad as the judges. Too smiley tho'

Chikezie - I Believe It To My Soul.........This guy can actually sing.

David Cook - All Right Now............I enjoyed his performance.

David Archuletta - Imagine........Beautiful!! David will be the next American Idol.

There Is One At Every Party

I feel great pain for Ryan Seacrest during this red carpet moment at the Oscars last evening.

Weekend Recap

The weekend began for me Friday afternoon with a lunchdate at Jack Astors with a galpal. Good food and good conversation are always a good way to kick off the weekend. Friday evening we sat down to watch the movie, "No Reservations." The story is totally clichéd and while watching it I knew exactly what was going to happen next. The girls liked it tho.' Saturday consisted of a walk and some errands. We also watched 2 fairly decent flicks. "Gone Baby Gone" was fantastic and I am here to tell you to run to the video store rent it now. It has made me a big fan of Casey Affleck. Ben Affleck does an amazing job with this thought provoking, complex film. I also watched the movie, "Little Children." A great satire about our society and human struggles. It is an interesting story of human behaviour and interaction. The psych nurse in me enjoyed it.
Sunday afternoon before the Oscars I watched "Lonely Hearts." The plot is a retelling of the real life 1930s murder spree of Martha Beck and Raymond Fernandez (America's notorious "Lonely Hearts Killers") and its connection to the tragic story of Detective Elmer C. Robinson who helped capture the killers but lost his wife in the process. The director is evidently the grandson of the detective who brought the two to justice. Watching the performances of Selma Hayek and James Gandolfinni makes this movie better than just great.

My Thoughts On Oscar Night

Last evening was our annual neighbourhood Oscar watching event. Guests were asked to come dressed with some reference to a nominated movie character or celebrity. In attendance was Cait as a better Miss Juno than I. Mike came as Jason Batemans character in Juno toting his guitar. Kelly was the stepmom with her scrapbook of her beloved dog photos. My little Alley was Tracey Turnball from Hairspray (we won't tell her it was not nominated.) Brooke was Paris Hilton with her dog Tinkerbell. Brianna was Lyndsay Lohan and Corinne came dressed as George Clooneys girlfriend. Garth was Micheal Clayton. Quinn was the boyfriend of Juno and won the prize for best costume.....Yeah Quinn!! The food was delicious with gourmet pizza, shrimp, cheese and crackers and cupcakes. Wine and screwdrivers were flowing freely but the real signature drink of the night was Sunny D (in reference to Juno) guests all left the party with a gift of tic tacs. A fun night was had by all.

Tilda Swinton looks like she could be related to Conan O' Brian.

Best dressed guy was George Clooney.

Javier Bardem islooks a lot less like a sociopath in real life......actually pretty handsome.

Best dressed gal was Jennifer Garner.

I love how Jack Nicholson always gets the front-row-center seat. And he's always laughing and wearing shades

Why was Miley Cyrus at the Oscars?

Katherine Heigl looked gorgeous, but was incredibly nervous.

My friend Holly with her super keen observational skills picked up on the fact that Brad Renfro was not included in the memorium tribute.

An Entertaining Obituary

The following obituary was posted in the NY times

Dorothy Podber, 75, Artist and Trickster, Is Dead
Published: February 19, 2008
Dorothy Podber, a wild child of the New York art scene in the 1950s and ’60s who is probably best known for brandishing a pistol and putting a bullet through the forehead of Marilyn Monroes likenesses on a stack of Andy Warholspaintings, died at her apartment in the East Village on Feb. 9. She was 75.

The artist Herndon Ely, her friend and caretaker for many years, said she died of natural causes.
Ms. Podber was an artist in her own right and in the late ’50s and early ’60s helped to run the Nonagon Gallery in Manhattan, which showed the work of a young Yoko Ono and was known for jazz concerts by performers like Charles Mingus. But she became famous, or infamous, in the art world mostly as a muse and a co-conspirator of more prominent artists like Ray Johnson, with whom she staged impromptu happenings on Manhattan streets.
In one, she and Mr. Johnson persuaded people they had just met to allow them into their apartments, where they would then play records used by speech therapists that contained samples of stuttering.
“She said people were pretty nonplused, as you’d expect,” Ms. Ely said “She and Ray would also do another bit where they’d re-enact the shower scene from ‘Psycho.’ ”
In a 2006 interview with the writer Joy Bergmann, Ms. Podber said: “I’ve been bad all my life. Playing dirty tricks on people is my specialty.”
Certainly the most outrageous was her unsolicited contribution to a few of Warhol’s “Marilyn” silk-screen paintings. In the fall of 1964 Ms. Podber, a friend of the photographer and Warhol regular Billy Name, visited Warhol’s Factory on East 47th Street in Manhattan with her Great Dane (named Carmen Miranda or Yvonne De Carlo, depending on the account). Ms. Podber asked Warhol if she could shoot a stack of the “Marilyn” paintings; he apparently thought that she wanted to take pictures of them and consented.
But she produced a pistol and fired at them, penetrating three or four. One of them, “Shot Red Marilyn,” with a repaired bullet hole over the left eyebrow, sold for $4 million in 1989, at the time setting a record at auction for a Warhol work.
“After she left,” Mr. Name told Ms. Bergmann, “Andy came over to me and said: ‘Please make sure Dorothy doesn’t come over here anymore. She’s too scary.’ ”
Ms. Podber grew up in the Bronx, where her father, a onetime bouncer and speak-easy employee who had lost his sight, ran a successful newsstand.
Many accounts of her life chronicle heavy drinking and drug use. Ms. Ely said that Ms. Podber spoke of being in trouble with the law a few times, once for running an illegal abortion referral service from her apartment.
She was thought to have been married three times, most recently to Lester Schwartz, who died in 1986. She had no children.
Ms. Podber told Ms. Bergmann that when money was low, as it often was, she generally found unorthodox ways to make it. She once ran a service that dispatched maids to doctors’ offices, primarily as a way to get the keys to the doctors’ drug cabinets. “I never worked much,” she said.

My Thoughts On Lost ( Spoilers )

Locke has become hardcore and sadistic.

Why did Jack say that 8 people survived the crash? What happened to the other 2 if there's only an "Oceanic 6"? Are we to presume that Micheal and Walt are the other 2 survivors?

Who is Ben and what can he do exactly? Why does he have access to that much money?

Now we know Miles' agenda, but why 3.2 million?

Now we know why kate is free?

'm very curious why Kate has Aaron and why doesn't Jack want to see him. Does Jack feel responsible for some harm that will come to Claire.

American Idol Recap - Girls Night

Kristy Lee Cook - Rescue Me...........Considering she was sick I didn't think it was too bad.

Joanne Borgella - Say A Little Prayer.........Pitchy in parts.

Alaina Whitaker - I Love You More Today Than Yesterday.......... She is a Carrie Underwood Lookalike. Better than Chikeze’s version from Guys Night last night. She has stong vocals.

Amanda Overmyer - Baby Please Don’t Go...........Very upbeat.

Amy Davis - Where the Boys Are.........I expected more.

Brooke White - So Happy Together......... I liked it. Good performance.

Alexandrea Lushington - Spinning Wheel..........Not bad.

Kady Malloy - Groovy Kind Of Love..........Another Carrie Underwood lookalike. I liked it.

Asia'h Epperson - Take a Little Piece of My Heart........I didn't like it as much as the judges.

Ramielle Malubay -You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me ............Beautiful. My favorite by far.

Syesha Mercado - Tobacco Road........A decent performance.

Carly Smithson -Shadow of Your Smile ................This girl has amazing control of her voice.

My Thoughts On Big Brother

I was actually almost embarrassed I was a fan of this mean and nasty show. Last night, this unstable bunch hit rock bottom. It was like a train wreck......I could not look away.

Amanda did not deserve the ugly and hostile fury that was unleashed on her from her housemates. Shame on Josh for his comments about her father. This man knows no boundries.

I am glad Jenn is out of the house and can't wait until she can watch back the tapes at home to relize that she did actually talk trash about her man.

Parker looked disgusted during the aftermath when he and Jen were sitting on the couch with Julie Chen.

Song Of The Day : Chasing Pavements By Adele

Beautiful Voice and cool video.

My Thoughts On American Idol - Guys Night

David Hernandez - In The Midnight Hour..... Good voice

Chikezie Eze - I Love You More Today Than Yesterday......Bad orange suit. I didn't like it or the performance.

David Cook - So Happy Together........ A good performance. He is safe from the bottom three.

Jason Yeager - Moon River....... It was a bit old fashioned with the suit and all.

Robbie Carrico - One...........Good song & Good performance.

David Archeluta - Shop Around..........A fun performance considering I am not a fan of the song.

Danny Noriega - Jailhouse Rock..........Ugh!!!

Luke Menard - Everybodys Talking At Me..........Very pitchy.

Colton Berry - Suspicious Minds...........Not bad.

Garrett Haley - Breaking Up Is Hard To Do........Bad Hair andboring performance.

Jason Castro - Daydream.........Nice to see him play the guitar.

Michael Johns - Light My Fire........Good performance

No big standouts for me yet.

My Thoughts On Big Brother

Ryan and Jenn are so desparate for sex, they have toilet sex for less time than it takes me to sneeze. The fact that Parker stuck around to listen......disturbing.

Neil, had to leave the game unexpectedly for personal reasons.......I need details. Joshuah now needing a partner, was given the choice between Sharon and Jacob. He made a wise choice and Sharon joined the rest of the housemates.

James noticed a "cube-thing" inside the guinea pig cage. I don't think there is any significance to it but he sure did. James decided that it meant there were FOUR couples in the house. .......because it has FOUR colors on it. Now a whole mess with Amanda has started.

I am not a fan of James squarecut swimsuit, but I did enjoy watching him skip through the kitchen.

Lindsay Lohan As Marilyn Monroe

In the next issue of NY Magazine Lindsay Lohan attempted to recreate some famous Marilyn Monroe pictures. I don't think she did Marilyn justice. She looks nothing like Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn had hips and curves.

Big Brother Thoughts

This is the most wacked out group of house guests ever. I mean usually there are a few sane ones but his bunch are crackpots.

Jenn is a bitch who hates Allison and loves to be an intimidating bully. She uses her boyfriend Ryan as a piece of furniture and positions him wherever she wants.

Allison is a whiny bitch who hates Jenn and is so inconsistent with what she says to people.

Amanda has a love relationship with her butt and likes to show it off so that everyone else can fall in love with it too.

Sheila is in denial that she is one mean cougar. "What.....I just said I hate him. It's not like I said anything mean about him."

Adam reveals he is uncircumsised, then Jenn screams she wants to see it. How old are these people? I mean are we watching Kid Nation or Big Brother?

Weekend Recap

On Friday evening my daughter Alley attended a sleepover spa party and Garth, Brooke and I watched " Zapped." It was totally cheesy and painful at times but is a sentimental fave of my husbands. His best friend Mike and his brother called while we were watching it and they were excited and envious. I'm sure both will be adding this silly movie to their collection now that it is out on DVD.
Saturday afternoon I spent watching "Across the Universe." I thought this movie was brilliant and a clever way to journey through the 60's. Every Beatle song fit the story so naturally. Saturday evening Garth and I stepped out to celebrate a friends 60th birthday. It was nice to see people from work and be amongst friends.
Sunday was spent doing crafts, building snow forts and watching "Pirates of The Caribbean At Worlds End." It was unremarkable.
Today was another day of lounging and leisure. I spent the afternoon watching "Infamous" which I actually liked more than "Capote." Toby Jones performance is spot on as Truman Capote. I toyed with the idea of going shopping as some Malls were open but I refrained becuase I really like the idea of Family Day and believe that the corporate world can and should shutdown for a day to embrace the idea of spending time with family. With that being said, we did take the kids to Swiss Chalet for Family Day Dinner as it was free for all kids when accompanied with an adult.
