Jay Leno Is An Ass

What happened to the times when Jay used to be funny? It was a long time ago, when Johnny Carson was still deciding who to give his show to.
Last week Ryan Phillippe appeared on The Tonight Show to promote his new movie, Stop-Loss. His interview with Jay Leno took a bizarre turn, however, when the late-night host asked him to look into the camera, pretend it was his "gay lover" and give it his "gayest look." Phillippe looked uncomfortable and refused.

Earth Hour With The Hysons

Our family was so excited to engage in Earth Hour Celebrations yesterday evening. I'm not too sure David Suzuki would approve of our glow in the dark necklaces. Are they biodegradeable? What about the use of sparklers? We also went out for a quick neighborhood drive and contributed emmisions to the environment. Egads!!
Okay, on a more positive note..........we turned off all the lights, tv's, computers for the hour and the majority of the day. We spoke about the benefit of Earth Hour with our daughters and things we as individuals can improve on. We spent time outside stargazing and taught the girls how to locate the big dipper. We sat by candlelight and told stories to each other. Yesterday evening our darkest hour was our brightest.

American Idol Recap

Ramiele Malubay - Alone..........I agreed with Randy, the song was just too big for her.

Jason Castro - Fragile............I really enjoyed his performance despite what the judges say.

Syesha Mercado- If I Were Your Woman.......Very good performance.

Chikezie Eze - If Only For One Night...........I really like the sound of his voice but people will think that old school sound is boring.

Brooke White- Every Breath You Take.........I loved it and it was my favorite thus far.

Michael Johns - We are the Champions...........Wowza!!!!! Okay my new favorite of the evening. What did Paula exactly say to him. I heard alot of jibber jabber but had no idea what she said.

Carly Smithson -Total Eclipse of the Heart........Man Randy is harsh tonight. I thought it was a good performance but she blew the ending. Majorly off key.

David Archuletta - You’re the Voice.........Okay why do I dislike this kid so much?? The song was horrid and reminded me of something from Disney. UGH, cheese!

Kristy Lee Cook - God Bless the USA.......... I agree with Simon. It was the best performance she has ever had. The song choice alone will keep her out of the bottom three.

David Cook - Billie Jean...............Cool arrangement. It was fantastic.

Recipes

Lately I have been enjoying cooking. I find it is a time I can turn off my brain and relax. It has become very therapeutic.

Tonight I made my first Frittata. It would be a nice brunch dish but I always like breakfast for supper. This is the recipe I used.

Some other recipes I tried recently and the family seemed to enjoy were Kielbassa Casserole and Easy Haddock Bake.

Deal Of The Day

Salba is an ancient grain that’s high in fibre and omega fatty acids. The free sample is three days’s worth. It was discussed at Weight Watchers for its ability to keep you feeling full. There is also research on its beneficial properties that was conducted at St. Michael’s Hospital.

Hospital workers fired for snooping in Spears' files

According to this article, UCLA Medical Center will fire some employees and discipline others for snooping at the confidential medical records of Britney Spears while she was hospitalized in its psychiatric ward.
I wonder why some will be fired and others will only be disciplined....hmmmm.

Weekend Recap

Friday morning was spent at the gym and then home to do some Easter baking with my daughters. We relaxed in the afternoon watching the Disney flick "Enchanted." It was a cute little film and I was pleasantly surprised.

Saturday was spent grocery shopping, hitting the flea market in search of books with minimal success. We spent the afternoon watching "I am legend." It was very entertaining. Saturday evening was spent doing more Easter baking and visiting with friends who dropped by.

Sunday we had Easter celebrations thoughout the morning with an egg hunt and Easter breakfast. The Easter Bunny left the girls some movies and we decided to spend the early afternoon watching "Jersey Girl." During the evening we hosted Easter Dinner for friends and a great time was had....ham, potatoes, peas & mushrooms with onion and bacon, rolls, apple pie and vanilla ice cream..........mmmmm. Sunday night we watched Big Brother and I hit the hay early as I have been having to take Benedryl through the weekend to keep my itching and hives under control.....zzzzzzzzz.

Monday we watched "The Ex. "and spent the day doing some house cleaning, reading and lounging.

My Thougths On Lost

So we learn that Micheal is on the boat working for Ben becaue he feels guilty for killing Libby and Ana Lucia.

We also learn that Micheal can't kill himself because the island won't let him. Just like when Jack tried to jump off a bridge and Hurley driving the streets like a madman during his highspped chase.

I truly hope Rousseau is not dead.

We learned that Tom is Gay and why Kate wasn't his type.

I wonder if the captain is working for Ben too.

American Idol Recap

I am just getting around to posting now as I have just finished watching the Tuesday night show and my laptop is back and running smooth.....yeah!!

Another Beatles night. Who are these kids? Half of them express that they have never heard of some of these songs.........what? They need to let these kids start singing the songs that they know and are familar with.

Amanda Overmyer - Back in the USSR............I am so bored by her and finally someone tells her what I have been saying to my televison each week as I watch the show, she needs to sing a ballad. According to her, ballads are boring. I find her same old screaming out of tune boring each week.

Kristy Lee Cook - You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away.......I think this girl can do better. She is too guarded and holds back.

David Archuletta - Long and Winding Road.........It was good but for some reason I can't take this kid serious.

Michael Johns - A Day in the Life.......Egad, that hurt my ears. Paula tells him that you lose a connection with the audience when you were using the monitors. It then becomes very awkward when we learn that he wasn't using monitors.....he is just bad.

Brooke White - Here Comes the Sun..........Not bad. I did not dislike it as much as the judges. I find her endearing.

David Cook - Day Tripper.....I liked his performance. The judges were a tad harsh.

Carly Smithson - Blackbird......She has great vocals. I enjoyed her performance.

Jason Castro - Michelle..........It was okay. I do like watching his goofy face.

Syesha Mercado - Yesterday...........I hate her version. Her voice is too high pitch for my liking.

Chikezie Eze - I’ve Just Seen A Face.........One of my favorite beatles songs. I actually liked his performance.

Ramiele Malubay - I Should Have Known Better............She can do better. She is losing her Wow factor.

They can only get better..........right?

Laugh Of The Day

An Irish priest is driving down to Toronto and gets stopped for speeding in Markham .
The OPP officer smells alcohol on the priest’s breath and then sees an empty wine bottle on the floor of the car.
He says, ‘Sir, have you been drinking?’
‘Just water,’ says the priest.
The officer says, ‘Then why do I smell wine?’
The priest looks at the bottle and says, ‘Good Lord! He’s done it again!’

Madonna And Guy Richie To Split

Madonna and Guy Richie’s marriage is on the rocks - and the pair are to announce a split, it has been claimed.
Rumors that the marriage was in trouble were further fueled this week when Richie, 39, failed to make an appearance at Madge’s induction into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame. And friends fear that they’ll go their separate ways - but will hold off announcing the decision for 18 months. ( Why 18 Months.......not 12, or 6 or now? )

A source said: “Madonna and Guy are over. It’s all very amicable. They’ve just fallen out of love with each other.

"They just think it’s for the best as after some great years together they’ve been going their separate ways " Madonna has been recording her new album Hard Candy and Guy has been trying to focus on putting a decent film out, so they are heading down different paths.” “Guy has failed to show up at events which are important to Madge. He just hasn’t taken as much interest as he has previously in what she’s doing.”
Rumors of a marriage breakdown have been rife for some time, and the pair - who married in 2000 - haven’t been photographed together since their trip to India in January.

Madonna is set to relocate to New York with her three children, Lourdes, 11, Rocco 7, and two-year-old David Banda - who the Material Girl adopted from Malawi in 2006. (Why is the adopted child is the only one with a normal name?)
Adds the source: “They’ll try to keep things under wraps for the moment, but Guy will remain living in London and Madonna is set for New York with the kids. “Guy will get as much access as he wants because there hasn’t been a massive falling-out.
“They’re agreeing to part on the best of terms.
“She has finally made the decision to go to America and has instructed her staff to prepare for the move. Everything will go—except Guy.”
Friends say Madonna, 49, is now in talks with her PR team to see how the move will affect her career, which has netted her a multi million dollar fortune and secured her as one of the world’s most famous and wealthiest female singers. Source

My Thoughts On Lost (Spoilers)

With the March Break drawing to a close I am finally getting around to sharing my thoughts on the last episode of Lost. ( This is for you Heather) My laptop is in being repaired so for the next 2 weeks I am back to using the family computer in the kitchen. My postings may be far and few between. Okay back to Lost........
I enjoyed the episode but I found it a bit confusing with flash fowards and flash back used.
So for the final six, this is who I have so far....Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sayid and Sun
It was beginning to look like everyones lives became worse when they left the island......not necessarily true for Sun and her baby.
Okay I need to know where Walt is now.

March Break 2008

Wowza!! The week has been a blur. We had made plans to hit the highway at the start of March Break to go spend time with grandparents. With news of an impending storm we upped the departure date and left a day earlier to avoid the mayhem. We arrived into Ontarios most dangerous community Friday afternoon. (Thanks To Toronto Mike for alerting me to this surprising fact.)
It was bliss. I still like spending time in the comfort of my parents company. Our time in Brantford was full. We shopped, movie watched, spent time with Aunts and Uncles and cousins galore. We returned home Wednesday afternoon and have continued on with the March Break Madness. We took the girls swimming at Legends and had a blast on the slide. Yesterday we went skating at Rickards Arena. I came home and watched "No Country For Old Men." It exceeded my expectations. I was so unsure whether I wanted to see it or not but found it so appealing. I liked it from start to finish and would want it no other way. Brilliant!!! Tonight we are spending in the company of friends as we attend another milestone birthday celebration.

American Idol Recap - Guys Night

Syesha Mercado - Got To Get You Into My Life...........Things can only look up from here. Unlike Randy, I didn't like the arrangement of the song. My dad is finding the colourful moving backgrounds distracting to the performances. My dad commented, if Simon thought she was much better than last week then it isn't saying too much about her performance last week.

Chikeze - She's A Woman...........Okay, it must just be me because unlike the judges I was not a fan of this performance. Garth, and my parents both thought it started out great with the bluegrass type of opening but then it took a turn for the worse.

Ramielle Malubay - In My Life ............The judges and I are definately not in sync as I actually thought she sounded great. Yes it was a mellow performance but it is a mellow song. She needs to sing a more powerful song next time.

Jason Castro - If I Fell...........If ever I needed proof that we all hear the music differently, I’ve got it now! My favorite performance so far. I really enjoyed it.

Carly Smithson - Come Together..........She definately has star power. Great performance.

David Cook - Elenor Rigby............A shaky start but a strong finish. Not bad

Brooke White -Let It Be...........Very enjoyable. It was a great song choice for her.

David Hernandez - I Saw Her Standing There.........Upbeat and cheesy.

Amanda Overmeyer - You Can't Do That..........I agree with Simon that she is too much yelling. I would like to hear her sing a ballad.

Michael Johns - Across The Universe........Not bad but I know he can do better.

Kristy Lee Cook - 8 Days A Week.......Really yucky!!!

David Archuletta - We Can Work It Out..........I'm not sure if it was more painful for him or me.

Laugh Of The Day

Is it wrong that I found this clip funny of these two older local news anchors getting into it live on the air. Awkward.....but funny!

My Thoughts On Lost

I believe it is Michael who is Ben's "man on the boat."

How did Daniel and Charlotte know about the gas on the island, where to go to find it, and what to do to disable it?

Another Red Sox reference.......hmmmmmmm.

Do you think Harper was alive or dead when she came to Juliet in the jungle?

Did anyone catch the picture hanging over Ben's couch when Juliet came for dinner? It looked an awful lot like Juliet.Could the woman in the picture be whomever Harper was referring to when she said, "You look just like her?"

My Thoughts On Big Brother

I love how James suspects that Matt is playing everyone and promising his vote to them all. He decides to call a meeting and outs Matt in front of everyone. Brilliant!!!

I expected they would break up the couples at some point but I am annoyed that not only did they prolong the season by breaking up the couples earlier than I expected but they are prolonging it even more by bringing someone back too! Great......more good times!

New Line Of Scrubs

Katherine Heigl, known as Izzy Stevenson from Greys Anatomy has designed a line of scrubs for nurses and doctors. The feature printed v-neck tops, pants and lab coats are nicer than some of the cheesy and loud prints that are available.

3 Great March Break Ideas

1. Go to Ontario Place and enjoy the two hit films "Enchanted" and "The Water Horse" on Cinesphere's GIANT screen.
2. Stage West Adventure Getaway for 2 nights.
3. Go to Brantford and hang out with Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles.

American Idol Recap - Girls Night

Asia’h Epperson - I Wanna Dance With Somebody............Not too shabby

Kady Malloy - Who Wants To Live Forever.............I want to like her but I find her boring.

Amanda Overmyer - Hate Myself For Loving You...........Good song choice and good job.

Carly Smithson - I Drove All Night.......I wasn't as blown away as Randy and Paula. I think I agree with Simon. Maybe I just hate the song.

Kristy Lee Cook - Faithfully..........I didn't like the country slant to the song.

Ramiele Malubay - Against All Odds..........Beautiful voice but who the hell picks the songs? She did a good job with it tho.

Brooke White - Love Is A Battlefield..........Ugh!! Make her stop. She is hurting my ears.

Syesha Mercado - Saving All My Love For You........Smooth! Nice performance.

This New Saddens Me

Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with Cancer. I hope he overcomes this and dirty dances for many more years to come.

Do You Know How To Handle A Kitchen Oil Fire?

My Thoughts On Big Brother

Natalie can't take a hint that Matt is not interested in her. She was bordering on the edge of stalking last night.

Matt needed to stop avoiding her and set her straight from the get go instead of yelling at her like he later did.

Allison was totally crazy during the POV competition. Her screaming like a banshee was disturbing.

Matt thinks he is the master schemer of the house. He reveals he knows how to play people. I am going to enjoy seeing Sharon play him. She is a sly one.

Luke Menard - Wake me up before you go go............Ugh!!! While I was hating his perormance my 10 year old daughter was swooning telling me how cute he was. Double ugh!!!
David Archuleta- Another Day in Paradise.........Yawn, I am so bored.

Danny Noriega - Tainted Love.........Please go home.

David Hernandez -It’s All Coming Back to Me Now ...........Fairly decent.

Michael Johns - Don't You Forget About Me..........A good performance.

David Cook -Hello.........Smokin.' OMG!! I love his slant on this Lionel Ritchie pop tune.

Jason Castro - Hallelujah.........Not bad, but I am an uber critic of that song as it is my all time favorite so you better sing it for all it is worth.

Chikeze -All the Man (woman) that I Need .......Not my cup of tea.

My Thoughts On Big Brother

This continues to be a difficult season for me to watch as I despise all the houseguests.
Josh is mentally unstable. I thought this people had to go through psychological testing to see if they were okay to to go on the show. I think he has some serious self-image issues himself which he projects on others.

Natalies portrait of Josh using only nailpolish and papertowel was pretty good.

RIP : Jeff Healy

Acclaimed jazz and rock guitarist Jeff Healey died Sunday evening in a Toronto hospital surrounded by family and a bandmate, Colin Bray. The news of his passing affects me deeply. Our paths crossed daily this past summer while I was receiving my own treatment regime. His prescence in the waiting rooms and the corridors will live on in the tapestry of my mind.

Weekend Recap

Friday evening we sat down to watch "The Brave One" starring Jodie Foster. I found this movie to be boring at times. I was actually expecting more. I also realized I am not a fan of Jodie Fosters acting. Saturday revolved around birthday celebrations for my youngest daughter. We entertained 7 of her schoolmates at the Cineplex Odeon. We watched the movie "The Spiderwick Chronicles." It kept everyone entertained including Garth and I. I think I may read my daughters book series of this magical story. The celebrations lasted late into the evening with our friends asking us to join them out for dinner. It was definately a full day and I collapsed into bed and fell into a heavy slumber. My wonderful husband let me snooze until 10:00 AM Sunday morning. I went for an afternoon walk and then home to watch "Superbad." It was hilariously funny with endearing main characters. Another fullfilling weekend.
