My Thoughts On Lost

Wow! What an ending. I can't wait to see how this affects the "future."

“If you could go back in time and kill Hitler as a baby, would you?” We know now that Sayid would.

Part of me is thinking that he is not dead. He may be badly wounded but with the fast healing property of the island, he survives or maybe Juliet saves him and this is why he becomes attached to her when he grown.

I love the contrast between Sayid and Ben .... one is born a killer, the other is made a killer.

I wonder if the purge still happens? This episode just changed everything... I'm mindfreaked!

When the Dharma group was voting to kill Sayid, one of them asked if they should, "Call in Arbor and let them make the decision." Is Arbor the outside company funding the Drama Initiative?

Sayiid's face while maniacally laughing during his interrogation was the scariest thing this show has had in a long time. Yikes! "Hmmmmm......maybe I should have only used 1/2 a dropper."

Best lines of the night

Sawyer.... "No fires for three years, you've been here for one night and we get a flaming bus!"

And lastly....I have said this before but I think it is a relevant theme.....they all have Daddy isssues.

Sayid.........His Dad was a hard man, and made him kill as a young boy.

Locke.........His Dad tricked him into giving him his kidney, then pushed him out a window.

Sawyer.......His Dad killed his Mom and them himself after Locke's Dad swindled them out of money.

Kate.......Her Dad was abusive to her Mom, so she blew him up.

Jack........His Dad drank a lot and put him down.

Ben ......His Dad blamed him for his Mom's death........so he gassed him.

Sun.........Her Dad was a mobster and turned her husband into a killer.

Hurley.......His Dad is half of Cheech and Chong.

Song Of The Day: Energy By The Apples In Stereo

I thought this catchy and cheerful tune might be fitting for Earth Hour. The video for this song was the directorial debut for Elijah Wood.

26 Things You Can Do With Toothpaste

Although the primary use of toothpaste is to clean and improve the aesthetic appearance and health of teeth, there are also 26 other things that you can use it for.

1. Removes stain from cloth
To take out all kinds of stain like ink or lipstick. Squeeze some on the spot, scrub and rinse.

2. Even out scratches on CD / DVD
If the screen freezes, take out the disc, put some toothpaste on it, scrub and clean it off.

3. Cleans diamond ring
Just squeeze a little on a used toothbrush, wet the ring, scrub gently, rinse and your diamond ring should be look sparkling new.

4. Cleans silver
Toothpaste can be used to polish any kind of silver. It really does bring out the shine in silverwares.

5. Placate burns
Right after you get burnt, put it on. It helps to relieve the sting.

6. Removes crayon from painted walls
Rub the marks with the toothpaste and a damp rag. Wipe with water to get rid of residue.

7. Remove carpet stains
Squeeze some onto the carpet, scrub, rinse and let it dry.

8. Relieves insect bites
Spread a little over either of these and you’ll feel soothed and no itches. Mosquito, flea and ant bites work especially well.

9. Keep girl babies’ bows in their hair
If they don’t have much hair this is particularly useful. It doesn’t pull it out, it just washes out.

10. Clean your nails
Teeth and nails are made of the same material. To clean your nails, squeeze some on top of a toothbrush, wet your nails and brush them thoroughly. Be amazed by the sparkle.

11. Clean shoes
Scrubbing toothpaste with a wet toothbrush over the boots, working shoes and rubber part of sneakers will work. It can also be used to remove scuffs.

12. Put up posters
You can use toothpaste to put up posters without damaging the wall. However, avoid using it for collector posters. It can damage the ink over time.

13. Use it to temporarily seal holes
Can be used as a spackle to fill nail holes. This sounds evil, but you can use it right before you move out of your rented apartment. =P

14. Clean around the bathroom
Use it to clean shower doors and rings around the bath tub. It has an abrasive so that is why it works good.

15. Clean your vehicle’s headlight lenses
Put some toothpaste in a bowl with some water. Use a buffer pad and clean off fog caused by dirt and bugs hitting them.

16. Clean model cars
Hobbyists who collect and build model cars, robots and action figures can certainly use toothpaste to make them nice and shiny.

17. Remove scratches on your watch crystal
Dab some on the watch and scrub it with tissue.

18. Treat acne
Be very careful when using this. Use it at most once a week. Just dab a small amount on a pimple before bed, wake up and it will dry up.

19. Prevent fog in your swimming goggles
Just wipe it on, clean it off. Works well for me.

20. Clean piano keytops
A dab of toothpaste, a soft cloth and some rubbing will usually clean piano keytops and turn them white again.

21. Deodorize smelly hands
Wash your hands with a dab of toothpaste and it will remove smells like onions and other unpleasant odors.

22. Remove scratches on glassware
Polish with a squeeze of toothpaste. Your glassware should be shining in no time.

23. Remove beach tar
Getting that black beach tar on your feet can put a small crimp in your vacation, but it is easy enough to remove. Just rub it with some non-gel toothpaste and rinse.

24. Deodorize baby bottles
Works for sour smelling baby bottles. Scrub with toothpaste and a bottle brush and the bottles should end up smelling clean and fresh.

25. Cleans clothes iron
The mild abrasive in non-gel toothpaste is just the ticket for scrubbing the gunk off the bottom plate of your clothes iron. Apply the toothpaste to the cool iron, scrub with a cloth, then rinse clean.

26. Remove water marks from furniture
To get rid of those telltale watermark rings left by sweating beverages, gently rub some non-gel toothpaste on the wood with a soft cloth.

American Idol Mini Recap

This past week it was a Motown theme and Smokey Robinson was schooling the contestants on some soul singing. Adam Lambert, who was looking dapper for once, had fallen from grace after butchering Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire” last week. This week he managed to bust out a new look for his version of Smokey’s “Tracks of My Tears.” He did a nice version that showcased his falsetto.

Song Of The Day: Turnin Me On By Keri Hilson

"Turnin' Me On" is a song by American singer-songwriter Keri Hilson, taken from her upcoming debut album, In a Perfect World.

Controversy spread about the
"Turnin' Me On (Official Remix)" featuring T-Pain and Lil Wayne that claimed that there were disses that were made across the track. In the song, it is rumored that she takes shots at fellow singers Ciara and Beyoncé, however Hilson denies both. The song was then rumored to be about Keyshia Cole and Rihanna, but Hilson denies that as well.

Song Of The Day: Electic Feel By MGMT

This song is bloody addicting.

If I Was.....

If I was a car, I'd be: nothing sporty, nothing luxurious, nothing ultra modern. I'd be quiet, small and economical (I'm not a high maintenance girl).

If I was a drink, I'd be: Beer because it seems down-to-earth.

If I was emotion, I'd be: I hope that I would be happiness or joy.

And you.......

Song Of The Day: Lover and a Friend By Eddie Bo & Inez Cheatham

Edwin Joseph Bocage ("Eddie Bo") was an American singer and New Orleans-style pianist. Schooled in jazz, he was known for his blues, soul and funk recordings, compositions, productions and arrangements. He debuted on Ace Records in 1955 and released more single records than anyone else in New Orleans other than Fats Domino.
Eddie Bo
died on March 18, 2009 of a heart attack.

Did "You Know......

The cozy picture of Archie and Edith Bunker sitting at the piano singing “Those Were the Days” seems so in context with the series, it’s hard to picture All in the Family without that opening. However, that homey tableau that seemed so perfectly designed to set the tone for the series was concocted strictly out of necessity. Producer Norman Lear had used up his allotted budget by the time he’d filmed the pilot, leaving no money to hire professional singers or musicians to perform the theme song. Series stars Carroll O’Connor and Jean Stapleton stepped in at the last minute to help him out. Source: Wikipedia

Song Of The Day: In Your Eyes By Peter Gabriel

In 1989, this song appeared in the Cameron Crowe film, Say Anything, in a scene where broken-hearted Lloyd Dobler (John Cusack) serenades his former girlfriend (Ione Skye) outside her bedroom window by holding up a boombox above his head and playing this song for her. The scene has become a standard pop culture reference for romance.

Doc Martens For Life

I loved my Doc Martens because they were cool and they were comfortable.
I loved them because they were bought in England where the first the first patent rights to manufacture these shoes originated in 1960.
My shoes were worn with pride despite the wear and tear I gave them.
Often my husband would give me a scutinizing look as I was making my way out of the house to some function and say you aren't wearing those with that outfit are you? He would point out the scuff marks and the flaws and insist that I remove them so he can at least give them a polish.

It was a dark day in my home for me when I finally had to part with my Doc Martens as they were like my anchor. I moved on to a pair of boots from Roots and tho' I have grown fond of them as well I think I may just look into purchasing a pair of the new brand of Docs on the market......Docs For Life

I Love My PVR

While away at my parents over the March break I did not watch Lost as I did not want to be distracted while watching. It is the kind of show where I need to pay full attention as alot of the best and most revealing stuff is in the details. Better late than never after watching last weeks episode.......here are my thoughts on the past weeks episode of Lost.

1.) So the baby is Ethan.... which means he must of joined the Others with Ben after the purge, or they stole him at some point and I guess Miles is not Dr Cheng's baby like I thought he was.

2.) Dr. Jack on janitor duty was humorous. Payback for Sawyer.

3.) Interesting that there are four people in each group. What are the factors these two groups have in common? What could have been the reason they were sent to different points in time, and, different islands?

4.) I'm still wondering where Rose and Bernard are....? While I am wondering that I begin to wonder where is Vincent, Rousseau and Faraday?

5.) Loved Bad Ass Sun !!!!!!!! Way to give it to Ben.

6.) Kate's name was left off the Sub list by Juliet on purpose. This was a passive aggressive, territorial gesture by Juliet. Nice.

7.) Upon their reunion, Sawyer called Hurley “Kong” and Jack “Doc”..... but to Kate he said, “Good to see you, Kate” .... not “Freckles.”
With Hurley and Jack he was re-upping their previous relationships, with Kate he was creating distance.

8.) Christian appearing with a Norman Bates silhouette was creepy. He tells Sun, "I'm sorry, you have a bit of a journey ahead of you."

March Break Recap

As I helped my girls with their nightime ritual to prepare for bed I felt the bittersweet feelings that most parents feel this time each year.....March Break is over.
I was fortunate to be able to take some days off late in the week to spend time doing "Family Things."

We spent time visiting both sets of Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles.
We had Air Hockey tournaments and played with our cousins.
We visited with friends to see their pet bear that has recently come out of hibernation. Unfortunately he was still sluggish and wouldn't venture out of his sleeping spot to visit with us but we were able to catch brief glimpses of him yawning.
We stimulated the economy and shopped and shopped.
We saw some great movies during our nightly movie nights. The girls both enjoyed "Charlie Bartlett."
This evening we spent time working on school projects and then out for a Farewell to March Break Feast at Red Lobster.
March Break is over and I survived......not completely unscathed but I was still able to reflect and tell the tale.

The Un-Road Trip

Boaz Frankel is an interesting guy.
He may not have done it all, but he's certainly done a lot in his twenty-some years. He started the west coast's only kazoo museum, he's managed a small zoo in the middle east, and he's a Guinness World Record Holder. Boaz has also been producing television and video for over seven years. Starting at New York University, Boaz created the most popular show in NYU-TV's history. After graduating he began Clips & Quips, an offbeat entertainment show, that aired online and on college television stations nationwide for three years. As producer and host of the show he went behind the scenes of Family Guy and The Office, covered the Sundance Film Festival, and interviewed a long roster of guests including George Clooney, Natalie Portman, Wes Anderson, Judi Dench, Will Ferrell, and many more. In 2007, Boaz was hired by Groupee.com to develop and produce a lineup of video programming for their new online music portal.
Boaz has done freelance reporting for Current TV, producing segments with Donald Trump and Sarah Silverman. He's appeared numerous times on The WB's Studio 7, Last Call with Carson Daly, and NBC's Today Show.
In April of 2009, Boaz is setting out on an Un-Road Trip. He's criss-crossing the United States using every mode of transportation except for car. He'll be traversing dozens of states by kayak, bicycle, dog sled, scooter, hot air balloon, horseback, segway, hang glider, fishing boat, crop duster, and whatever else he can find. He'll be documenting the whole journey right here, on this website. You'll be able to track him in real-time through daily, (and sometimes hourly), blogs, photos, and videos.

The Beginning Of The New BareNaked Ladies

What do the Barenaked Ladies sound like without Steven Page? Apparently the newly formed quartet performed for the first time on March 7, and they have posted the entire concert for as a downloadable freebie until March 27. Maybe they should add JD Fortune to their gig. I hear he is out of work at the moment.

Song Of The Day: Troubled Land By John Mellancamp

“Troubled Land” is a social commentary, as evidenced by the provocative imagery of its video. It reveals a whole lot of things about a country in need of repair. The video ends with “a message of hope” in its depiction of a baby crawling across an American flag.

The Failure Of The Food Network

I totally agree with this review of the Foood Network.
I used to love watching the Food Network and I fondly remember not so long ago, cooking shows were stacked back-to-back all day and all night long.
You could follow "Everyday Italian" with Giada thenslide right into "Barefoot Contessa," add a dash of "Paula Deen" and I was left feeling nourished and enriched.

These days, however, watching this network is like watching the culinary equivalent of Jerry Springer and People's Court.

Support Groups Exist For Everyone

I work on a 24 hour crisis line at the hospital where I work. One of the services I offer is being a resource of community services that are available to the caller in their time of need. Through the years I have learned if you have issues, no matter how bizarre, there's probably a support group out there that deals with it.

1.) The Childhood Goat Trauma Foundation......The Childhood Goat Trauma Foundation was created in 1982 by a small group that originally came together as a an informal support group for problems that were the result of traumatic experiences at petting zoos as children.

2.) Lip Balm Anonymous..... is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other so that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from their addiction.

3.) Vampires Anonymous......a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from vampirism

3.) Having a dirty car, covered with gross, dirty snow

4.) Taking an extra 5 minutes to get out of the house because we have so many layers to put on

5.) Having to worry about running out of windshield wiper fluid

6.) Getting into a cold car and having to wait for it to warm up

7.)Not being able to wear flip-flops

8.) Cold Feet

9.) Not being able to sit under my gazebo or on my porch for extended periods of time and watch the world go by

10.) The dark and the very short days

Extreme Sheep LED Art

How do people think these ideas up?

Song Of The Day: The Girl By City And Colour

"And when you cry, a piece of my heart dies, knowing that I may have been the cause." Gets me every time.

Dora The Explorer Has Grown Up

Have you met the new Dora? She is super cute with her flowing luscious locks, a cute little outfit, accessories, ballet slippers reminiscent of Amy Winehouse. Long gone is her pudgy belly sneaking out from underneath her T-shirt as well as the frilly ankle socks and her sidekick purple Backpack.
I thought it was extremely interesting how much change Nickelodeon gave Dora in this recent growth spurt.
I wonder if they plan on starting a separate show with this new, mature, middle-school Dora while keeping pre-schooler Dora or if they plan on having the new Dora wipe out the existing one.

The Eyeballing Game

The Eyeballing Game is a wildly addictive way to test your ability to see and make shapes, lines, and angles. Created last September by an Ontario carpenter, the game gives you three cracks at seven geometric tasks: bisecting angles, making parallelograms, and finding the midpoints of triangles, circles, and lines. My lowest score is 13.6. I would do much better if I knew what convergence meant.

Song Of The Day: Video Killed The Radio Star By The Buggles

The Buggle were a New Wave band formed in 1977 consisting of Trevor Horn (bass guitar, guitar, percussion, and vocals), Geoff Downes (percussion and keyboards) and Bruce Woolley. Song Of The Day: Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down) By The Raconteurs

Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)" is the name of a song written by Sonny Bono. In 1966, Cher released it as the second single from the album The Sonny Side of Cher. Nancy Sinatra later covered the song in 1967.

I really like this great cover-version. Jack White sings the song highly emotional and believable, he lives the lyrics.

Song Of The Day: Gravity By Sara Bareilles

Here is the new version of the official music video for "Gravity" by Sara Bareilles.

This website is entrancing. I find myself being unable to turn away. The site posts simple, lovely videos of artists while they draw. The clips are accompanied by cool music, so you can get a double-whammy of artistic discovery.

SongOf The Day :Hook By Blues Traveler

This song's title refers to a hook in music terminology.... the catchy element or phrase of a song which makes it distinctive. The song's lyrics assert that whatever the singer sings about is effectively meaningless, since the song's musical hook will keep listeners coming back, even if they are unaware of the reason.

What $500,000 Buys Worldwide In Real Estate

The international housing market has practically stalled over the past year and in some countries prices have fallen through the floor. With a considerable drop in prices, now is the ideal time to buy that new home or holiday house. Let’s imagine you are upwardly mobile and have around US$500,000 to invest. It may not stretch as far as it used to, but you can still get some stunning properties in exotic locations.

Sounds Of Silence

This afternoon I was alone in my house. Garth went out to pick up the girls from school and he took Jedi with him. It was just me and the house. It felt odd. It felt different. It felt good.

There were no heart-thumping beats or soul-stirring sounds blaring from the radio. The TV sat quietly. Even the clicking and tapping of a keyboard that can typically be heard in our household was not heard.
Again it felt good.

It was then I became aware......Silence is a luxury. A luxury that serves a purpose. Silence enables me to slow down my mind and tune away from tasks, work and conversations. It is then that I can truly be in the present and it feels absolutely great.

In silence, no one is calling you to be comforted, E-mails aren’t warning of impending doom, and no one is telling that you need something more in your life to be good looking enough, smart enough, or funny enough.

I am going to try to incorporate a little quiet time into my days.

Smile With Your Eyes

Last night R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and he demonstrated how to "smile with your eyes." It cracks me up.

Song Of The Day: You Me And the Bourgeoisie By The Submarines

What a cute little tune.

6.) Cadillac Records.........In this tale of sex, violence, race, and rock and roll in 1950s Chicago, "Cadillac Records" follows the exciting but turbulent lives of some of America's musical legends, including Muddy Waters, Leonard Chess, Little Walter, Howlin' Wolf, Etta James and Chuck Berry.

My Thoughts On American Idol Season 8

So the top 13 are performing.......I am blogging as I watch this with my girls this evening. It is Michael Jackson night.

1.) Lil Rounds sang, "The Way You Make Me Feel"..........One of my favorite Jackson songs. She sounded okay but I found her outfit distracting. I can't believe the glam squad let her buy those pants.

2.) Scott MacIntyre sang, " Keep The Faith".............Wow, his sister is visually impaired also. I am not familiar with this song and it really did nothing for me.

3.) Danny Gokey sang, "Pretty Young Thing"..............This guy owns more glasses than I do sunglasses and that is alot. The start was slow but things livened up and I really liked his performance.

4.) Michael Sarver sang "You’re Not Alone".................Boring!

5.) Jasmine Murray sang, "I’ll Be There"............She often picks big songs and doesn't sing quite big enough. Parts at the end were a bit rough.

6.) Kris Allen sang, "Remember The Time"................I thought his Man in the Mirror was far better.

7.) Allison Iraheta sang, "Give In To Me".........I really like the earthiness of her voice.

8.) Anoop Desai sang, "Beat It"...........He needs to focus more on singing than moving around the stage. The performance was not good but his parents are adorable.

9.) Jorge Nuñez sang, "Never Say Goodbye"............painful.

10.) Megan Joy sang, "Rockin Robin"........Megan is beautiful but damn girl cover the sleeve. I don't mind the tatoos but it looks awful when you wear a beautiful dress. Song choice and dancing were cheesy but I actually liked it.

11.) Adam Lambert sang, "Black Or White"......... Wowza!! I can't believe this was his week #1 performance. The guy is not quite my taste but I certainly love his star quality. he could be a contender.

12.) Matt Giraud sang, "Human Nature".............I enjoyed his performance.

13.) Alexis Grace sang, "Dirty Diana".........I wondered if someone was going to sing that song. Very professional vibe to her but she seems a bit out of breath at times.

Paula continues to act like she is medicated a little too much. I was waiting for one of the feathers on her dress to make way into her mouth.
The new judge Kara is just a blend of Randy and Paula. I am not too sure what she brings to the show.

Bottom 3......Jorge, Michael, Kris
