Crash Years by The New Pornographers......has a upbeat pop sound and cute and colourful video.
The Rabbit By Miike Snow gets me groovin' with its catchy choruses.
Sarah McLachlan new single Loving You Is Easy is a departure from her usual sound. While I like the tune the official video bugs me for some reason. I much prefer her live rendition here.
Fire with Fire By Scissor Sisters is n uplifting, euphoric, anthemic, true-to-life tale about rising up against the odds and fighting "fire with fire".

Happy Fathers Day
Did you know that this year marks the 100th anniversary of the first Father’s Day? According to the YMCA, the very first Father’s Day was celebrate at the Spokane YMCA in Washington on June 13th, 1910. Of course, today it is celebrated worldwide in more than 80 different countries.
Out of the mouths of babes......I can relate to may of these children as they share what their dad means to them.
Out of the mouths of babes......I can relate to may of these children as they share what their dad means to them.
I often feel like I am the luckiest person around most days. On Father’s Day & Mother's Day it especially hits me. I have 2 beautiful daughters and a husband who couldn’t be a better a father to them. I love to watch him with them..... he loves to play with them, snuggle with them, help them clean their bedroom and playroom (ok well maybe not that… let’s not get carried away right?) He is loving, caring and always supportive of their needs.
Then there is my Dad… I again feel so blessed to have him in my life and have him be such a huge part of my daughters lives. I cherish the time we are all together and love to watch every minute of it.
Happy Fathers Day. I love you both.

Song Of The Day: Holiday By Vampire Weekend
Although the video and sound of the song are cheery, once the lyrics are examined it appears to have a deeper meaning, possibly an allusion to the Iraq War.

I Love 'Jays STAT'
Want to know how the Toronto Blue Jays did last night? Who performed and who didn't? You can check the boxscores if you want to. Or, you can visit Jays STAT. With a quick glance, you know the score and you know who to praise or who to blame. STAT. Sooner Than Already There. Lens flares? Yeah, we got 'em. Happy cat? Yeah, we got him too. Don't forget the Angry Little Girl. If we see her less that 80 times this season, consider 2010 a success.
Breathe, Pause, Relax
My father recently sent me a sweet Email noting the fact that my blogging was on the decline........
"Hi Jill,
Is your computer broken? (if it is you wouldn't see this anyway). You haven't put anything on your blog in over a week. You have never gone this long before I think. I even phoned Garth the other day and he said that you were just busy. I miss it.
Love, Dad."
Lately I have felt like I have so much coming at me, so many possibilities, so many self-imposed “commitments” of things to read, listen to and watch. Then there are people in my life that I want to be familiar with....to interact with however the quality of relationships and activities has the potential to suffer when I spread myself too thin.
Being a nurse means that I interact with people approximately 40 hours a week and then there is the family time and social activites I engage in. I sometimes begin to feel overwhelmed and it is during this time that I tend to disconnect. I try to manipulate my envionment to carve out some Solo time.
Even during these time of solitude I tend to make mental lists of all of the things I can and should do..... laundry, clean, weed the garden, read a book, blog, do nothing, do everything. The choices themselves then begin to overwhelm me.
Lately I have been doing what is most beneficial for me. I have been spending time unplugged and away from the computer. I have been spending more time outside in my lounge chair daydreaming.....resting my mind and body. Taking time to pause, to breathe, to sit and just be.

Mood Music
Thanks to inventions like the iPod, we have the ability to compose our own personal soundtrack for everyday life. But for those of us who don’t have the time to create separate lists for every feeling or activity, there’s StereoMood, which provides excellently created and free playlists that should suit just about any mood you may be in (or hope to be in).
There are certainly lots of options, as the site goes beyond basic emotional states (though it does include the requisite “Happy” and “Sad”) and into specifics, like “Feel Like Crying” (a 260-song list that includes Tom Waits, the Pixies and Blonde Redhead) or “Hopeful.” It also supplies lists for particular occasions or activities, like “It’s Raining,” and “Spring Cleaning.” So just sit back and let the site program the day’s soundtrack for you.
