Song Of The Day: Next Time Around By Little Joy
Little Joy is a Brazilian/American rock band formed in 2007 by Los Hermanos singer/guitarist Rodrigo Amarante and The Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti. Amarante and Moretti met in 2006, at a festival in Lisbon where both their bands were performing, and the idea came up to start a new musical project unrelated to their respective bands.

Song Of The Day: Why Don't You Get A job By Offspring
The main tune of the song is heavily inspired by The Beatles' song Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da.
The Legacy Of Hope
Today is the 65th anniversary of the liberation of the largest Nazi death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau. It is also the tenth anniversary of the commemoration of Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) in the UK.
We shouldn’t ever forget what happened. Especially since the world has seen genocide happen again and again. One day, as said in the video, hopefully we will have a future that is free from the dangers of exclusion and persecution. It’s good that Daniel Radcliffe is lending his celebrity for the HMD.

An Interesting Quote
“Illness is the night-side of life, a more onerous citizenship. Everyone who is born holds dual citizenship, in the kingdom of the well and in the kingdom of the sick. Although we all prefer to use only the good passport, sooner or later each of us is obliged, at least for a spell, to identify ourselves as citizens of that other place.”

Song Of The Day: Bad Romance By Lady Gaga
My favorite song yet by this artist that proves she is more than a flash in the pan.
Her singing moves from threatening to sweetness and back again. I like the references she makes to Alfred Hitchcock films in some of the verses. "I want your psycho, your vertigo shtick/ Want you in my rear window, baby you're sick." She stated, "What I'm really trying to say is I want the deepest, darkest, sickest parts of you that you are afraid to share with anyone because I love you that much."

Creative With Cupcakes
Graphic designer and jewelry artist, Robin Dahlberg and several of her housemates made a set of one hundred of the most awesome cupcakes ever. Each one is decorated to evoke a particular famous game, ranging from Rock-Paper-Scissors to Dungeons & Dragons.
Here is a web page that makes a game of figuring out what game each cupcake represents, and there’s even a bonus level! The cupcakes are just beautiful.....I know I would have trouble eating one because it would mean destroying the fine handiwork.

Watch this story of these 2 nice boys and Sheila........keep the videos coming.

Real Dolls (NSFW)
My Galpal Sheila sent me a little youTube video to check out and I was both mortified and enthralled as I sat and watched.
It peaked my interest in such a way that I checked out this as well.
Apparently this is part 5 from the documentary Guys and Dolls about the men who use sophisticated life-size dolls for sexual satisfaction and more.... such as dates, affection and lifelong companionship.
Featuring a young American man who gives his doll daily massages in the home he shares with his disapproving Mum and Dad; a British man who takes his doll out on day trips to the coast where she watches him hang- glide; and two Americans who live with multiple dolls, one of whom shares his eight synthetic lovers with his human girlfriend.
The other 4 parts are available but I think I will stop here as I felt so glum as I watched these lonely fellows.
I think their dolls just seem to exacerbate their loneliness.

Song Of The Day: End Of All Time By Stars Of Track & Field
This tune touches upon the idea of maybe, in time, it is possible to make it through all those bumps in the road.
Melancholy
I’m generally a happy person so this may surprise some of you to know that even the eternally optimistic get the blues every once in a while.
I'm in a weird funk lately.
I know that I have a lot to be thankful for. However that doesn't mean I can't get hit by a funk every now and then.
I'm in a weird funk lately.
I know that I have a lot to be thankful for. However that doesn't mean I can't get hit by a funk every now and then.
I don’t dwell on things I can’t control, I have realistic expectations, I’ve learned over time that trying to change people is futile, and I’ve even come to appreciate some of my flaws.
Despite this melancholy found me.
Despite this melancholy found me.
Like a thick fog it crept up seemingly out of nowhere and I can no longer ignore it.
This is where I am currently. After an intense couple of weeks dealing with loved ones ongoing health issues and some sudden and unexpected deaths.....sadness has lingered.
It is a sobering feeling that makes me feel slightly off-balance, not-quite-myself, and a little bit powerless.
But, as I have done many times in the past, I’ve learned not to let sadness take over.
It’s not easy to do at first but, as always, a little effort goes a long way.
These are things I need to do.
I need to let the sadness in then let it pass.
Spend some time meditating.
Take some much needed naps.
Focus on exercise.
And a very important one for me.......Be at peace with silence and limit outside stimuli.

Everything You Need To Know About Lost In 8 Minutes
This funny and amusing recap is actually pretty good.
Song Of The Day: Just Can't Get Enough By Wallis Bird
Wallis Birdis an Irish musician who lives and works in London. She was six months old when she received her first guitar from her father. Born left-handed.....she lost 5 fingers in a lawnmower accident (and having four sewn back on again) on her left hand, she became used to playing a right-handed guitar upside-down, which contributes to her unconventional style of playing. I like her cover of Depeche Mode's "Just Can't Get Enough.

Jailhouse Rock
Elvis doesn't play the most likeable of characters in this film. He goes jail for killing a man then pursues a singing career upon release, only to lose more than he gains with his success. The sequence with the title song is reason enough to watch the film. The dance sequence is widely acknowledged as the most exciting and best-executed musical scene in any of the 30 Presley narrative movies, and is also credited by some musical historians as being the first prototype for the modern music video. This sequence was also duplicated by Britney Spears during her infamous 2007 MTV Video Music Awards Performance.
Elvis Is Everywhere
Elvis would be 75 today if he were still alive. Of course some actually believe he’s still alive and in hiding.
7 fun facts I learned about Elvis while surfing the web:
1.) Presley's entourage were known collectively as the Memphis Mafia. All members of the Memphis Mafia sported diamond and gold rings given to them by Elvis. Each ring had a thunderbolt emblem and the letters TCB imprinted on it. TCB stood for "Takin' Care of Business."
2.) Elvis Presley recorded more than 600 songs in his music career, but didn’t write a single one of them. 18 of them were Billboard #1 songs: the first was "Heartbreak Hotel" in March 1956; the last, "Suspicious Minds" in September 1969.
3.) Elvis Presley was originally considered for the Kris Kristofferson role in A Star Is Born (1976), but he had to turn it down because manager Tom Parker refused to give him permission to act in a movie where he wouldn't have top billing.
4.) Elvis owned a pet chimpanzee named Scatter. He also had numerous horses and dogs. His collie, Baba, even appeared alongside him in Paradise, Hawaiian Style (1966).
5.) Elvis was a direct descendant of Abraham Lincoln's great-great grandfather, Isaiah Harrison. He was also a distant cousin of Jimmy Carter.
6.) Presley only performed five concerts outside the United States — all in Canada in 1957. At the time of his death, he was planning a European tour. He only set foot on British soil once, when the plane taking him back to the United States from Germany had a two-hour stopover to refuel at Glasgow Prestwick airport.
7.) The day before he died Elvis tried to obtain a print of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, to show his daughter, Lisa Marie.

Song Of The Day: Rock DJ By Robbie Williams
The video for this tune was surrounded by controversy because of its explicit gore content. The video showed Williams tearing chunks of skin and muscle from his body while performing a strip show in an attempt to get noticed by the female DJ.
Questions To Ponder.........
1. You just got a free plane ticket to anywhere. You have to depart right now. Where are you gonna go? Hawaii.
2. Have you ever walked out of a movie at the theater? What was the movie, how much was the ticket and why did you walk out? Yes.....the movie was called "Guilty As Sin" starring Don Johnson and Rebecca Demornay and it was horrible. I think it was on a Toonie Tuesday.
3. If your neighbor is having a baby would you buy a baby gift for them? Absolutely
4. If you were to be on Sesame Street, which character would you want to be in a scene with? Grover..... sweet & lovable.
5. What does it mean to you to have courage?
Being brave means that even though you're afraid, you face that thing you're afraid of despite your fear.
6. What makes you a good person?
Wow, this is a hard one. I sometimes wonder if I even am a good person. *sigh*

Deeps of the ocean, I find the sea fascinating.

Depends on the product…if its peanut butter or laundry detergent…I never go cheap. But I am not paying for a Tommy H white t-shirt for 60 bucks…when a Walmart one is 6 bucks…uh that is a no brainer.
2. Have you ever walked out of a movie at the theater? What was the movie, how much was the ticket and why did you walk out? Yes.....the movie was called "Guilty As Sin" starring Don Johnson and Rebecca Demornay and it was horrible. I think it was on a Toonie Tuesday.

Song Of The Day: Goodbye England By Laura Marling
Laura Marling began playing the guitar at the age of five, first being taught the blues by her father in front of the family fire and I enjoy listening to her as she sings this heartfelt mellow folk ballad.

Things That I Love
Climbing into the warm and cozy comfort of your sweet, heavenly bed after being away on a long trip.
The smell of a baby fresh from the bath.
Watching back to back episodes of a favorite TV show using the DVR.
Falling asleep with fresh sheets and freshly shaved legs.
The smell of a baby fresh from the bath.
Clear, starry nights.
When Batteries are included.....even if they are the plastic-wrapped cheap batteries that don't leave us feeling overly confident .......surprise batteries are a big win every time.
Watching older siblings care for younger ones
Fitting every last thing in the dishwasher.....even if you have to rearrange the assorted mess like a 3D jigsaw puzzle. There is a true art to dishwasher loading and my father is the master.
Waking up to the smell of sizzling bacon......Waking up to the smell of coffee is a close second.
Letting go of the gas pump at just the right moment......I get tense when I’m two cents away from a nice, round number. Its like winning at a slot machine.
When you're driving in traffic and you're in the lane that is moving.
The funny things kids say… when they’re not trying to be funny.
Finding surprise money in your pants pocket or a purse you haven't used in a while.
Cheering for the winning team.
Venus Spa Breeze razors.....Shaving gel is attached to the razor, so you can be half-asleep during hair removal.
Having a job where I can wear jeans and yoga pants.A fabulous group of guys that I get to work with every day........and the fact that I still have a job
Sudokus. By doing one everyday I prove to myself that I haven't become an idiot yet.
Receiving a heartfelt thank you note.
Unasked for, undeserved hugs.
Garage sale treasures.

I like this stripped down version of this Carol King tune.
Oshawa Has GTA's First Nurse-Led Clinic
According to the Ontario Medical Association, there are 1.3 million people without a family doctor and that is not including about 330,000 people in Ontario who have held on to their doctor in another town or province but would otherwise be without in their own community.
This explains why there are daily lineups at walk-in clinics and in hospital emergency rooms.

I am so thrilled to read this and believe it's imperative that the government move immediately with more of these nurse-led clinics.

At The End Of Yonge Street
Two dudes started out at the intersection of Wellington St and Yonge St in Aurora and walked south along Yonge until they hit the end at Lake Ontario about 14 hours later. Very cool.
