Christmas Chuckle Of The Day

Let's see if it at least makes you smile.

The Stories Behind Hollywood Studio Logos

Have you ever wondered why the DreamWorks logo shows a boy fishing on the moon? Or who modeled as the "torch lady" for the Columbia Pictures logo?

This link tells the stories behind film studio logos, from the MGM lion to the 20th Century Fox searchlight.

More Trivia:
In all 3 X-Men movies, the X in 20th Century Fox stayed lit as the logo faded.
In some of the 90's Batman movies turned the WB shield into the Bat-logo.
Shark Tale does a fun little bit with the Dreamworks kid. Since the movie takes place in the sea, the kid casts his line and the worm on the hook screams for dear life and starts the movie.

Song Of The Day: Sleigh Ride By KT Tunstall

According to the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers annual review of Christmas music, "Sleigh Ride" consistently ranks in the top 10 list of most performed songs during the Christmas season worldwide. I love this version.

This collection of photographs of Marilyn Monroe, spanning her lifetime from obscurity to Hollywood sex goddess, is being offered for sale this month at Christies Auction House.
The collection of more than 100 images will be sold at Christie's auction house in three sessions on December 16-17. They are expected to bring from $811,000 to $1.1 million.

RIP: Beverly Garland

Ms. Garland is probably best known to TV audiences as the wife of Fred MacMurray on My Three Sons, but she also had a very long career in the business. She appeared in such early 50s TV shows as Mama Rosa and The Lone Ranger, as well as Lux Video Theatre, Schlitz Playhouse of Stars, Climax!, Goodyear Theater, The Twilight Zone, Dr. Kildare, Rawhide, Diagnosis: Murder, Friends, Ellen, Remington Steele, Magnum, P.I., Hart to Hart, and dozens more. She was a regular on 7th Heaven (she played Ginger), Lois & Clark (she played Ellen Lane), and Port Charles.

RIP: Nina Foch

Nina Foch is known to me from her role as Ducky's mother on the show NCIS. However, she also starred in several vintage horror movies back as early as the early 40s, such as Return of the Vampire and Cry of the Werewolf. She also had the honor of being the very first murder victim on Columbo, in 1968's Prescription: Murder (done in by hubby Gene Barry). She also appeared in several other TV shows, such as Bull, Just Shoot Me, Dharma & Greg, Murder She Wrote, L.A. Law, Hunter, Lou Grant, Barnaby Jones, Hawaii Five-0, That Girl, and a ton of others. She appeared in Spartacus, The Ten Commandments, An American in Paris and others. She was even the associate director on The Diary of Anne Frank.

Song Of The Day: All My Bells Are Ringing By Lenka

Lenka is an Australian singer-songwriter, most famous for her song "The Show", which has been used in numerous advertisements, most notably for Old Navy.
I really enjoy her sound.

Kristen Stewart is going to try playing Joan Jett in a Runaways biopic.....hmmmm.

Christmas Craft Idea To Do With Kids

This project is a great way to use up bits of leftover yarn, and these little stars look cute on a tree, wreath, or package.

New On DVD

These are some new releases on DVD that interest me and may interest you.

1.) Wanted.......Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy star in this 2008 action film which is very loosely based on the comic book miniseries of the same name by Mark Millar.

2.) The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

3.) The Day the Earth Stood Still is a 2008 remake of the 1951 science fiction film of the same name. Directed by Scott Derrickson and starring Keanu Reeves as Klaatu, the film updates the Cold War themes of man against man, to the more contemporary concerns of man against nature.

Christmas On TV

Now you can consult this schedule for airtimes.

Bruce Springsteen's 'My Lucky Day' Unveiled

I am digging this new tune by TheBoss.
"My Lucky Day" is a song coming off Bruce's 16th studio album "Working on a Dream". Produced by Brendan O'Brien who also helped AC/DC making their latest LP "Black Ice."
The video features the 59-year-old musician singing the single in the studio with E Street Band he recently toured with.

A radio station in Chicago chose the Most Embarrassing Song.

I can't wait to see this survey done again in 20 years. All the brackets will be filled by former American Idol contestants.
