Song Of The Day: Cath....By Death Cab For Cutie

The video shows the story of the song. A woman (Cath) is about to be wed (to the "well-intentioned man", yet does not love him, she is still infatuated with a former love watching the ceremony.
The 'former love' is played by Lukas Haas, who also played The Patient in the video for My Chemical Romance's Welcome to the Black Parade.

Suri And Her Umbrella

I don't know which is more cute........Suri or the umbrella.

Song Of The Day: Mother Mary By Foxboro Hot Tubs

The Foxboro Hot Tubs are the secret side project of Green Day. Billie Joe Armstrong told NME magazine: "The only similarity between Green Day and Foxboro Hot Tubs is that we are the same band." His reasons for starting the band, also told to NME magazine, were that they "love to play music and be spontaneous, and after a few late-night jams and a few too many bottles of wine, we were inspired to record some rockin' eight-track recordings."

Solving Rubik’s Cube

Brand New Day

Last night I took some cold and flu medicine and watched the election results in bed. I became misty eyed during some of the news coverage. I thought John McCain’s concession speech was very gracious and heartfelt. The coverage carried on and I felt myself nod off with a feeling of peace and comfort. (Was that Obama or the meds?)
Garth nudged me awake to hear Obama speak. As I watched it I felt so incredibly hopeful and inspired.
As I sit here now, I still feel hopeful. Some of the highlights that I loved were......Joe Biden walking onstage with the biggest smile, Obama kissing his wife, Obama leading Joe Bidens mother to the front of the stage to stand beside he son.
Let the healing begin.

Song Of The Day: Starry Eyed Surprise By Paul Oakenfold

I think this song is most appropriate for the mood and energy of last night and today.

This Reminds Us How Groundbreaking Obamas Achievements Are

The fact that she has lived to be 109 is cool. Her life story is fascinating. I can't imagine what it must have felt like for Amanda to cast her vote in this Presidential election.

Guess Who Turns 47 Today?

Click here to see who celebrates their 47th birthday today. Apparently he was already 23 when the first installment of one of my favorite movies came out. Another interesting tidbit is that he has a son named Daniel.......Daniel son.

Song Of The Day: Answer By McLachlan

This song moves me. I feel it is about being there for someone you love and care about through even the toughest of times. Being their strength when they are weak and giving them hope.

Each Day

"One ought, every day at least, to hear a little song, read a good poem, see a fine picture, and, if it were possible, to speak a few reasonable words. "

Johann von Goethe

What an inspiring quote. It led me to start thinking of other things I think that I ought to do each day.

1. Kiss and hug my children

2. Take time to reflect on the positive things in life.

3. Do something completely indulgent..... eat something decadant, take a long bath, take a walk alone or with someone.

4. Tell a loved one that you love them.

5. Take just a few minutes to do absolutely nothing.

Song Of The Day: Save You By Simple Plan

I am liking this new release by Simple Plan. The video featured here premiered Friday October 24th, 2008. Lead singer Pierre Bouvier has stated in interviews that the song deals with his brother's battle with cancer.

War Of The Worlds Anniversary

Last Thursday marked the 70th anniversary of War of the Worlds. Orson Welles was 23 years old when he wrote, produced and directed the program. After his radio career, he went on to create some of the greatest films of all time.

Listen to the original War of the Worlds here. It lasts about 51 minutes.

I Look Like Michael Hutchence

My husband has become a critic of my hair.

Since receiving chemo and radiation it has taken on a whole new look.
He was with me during my hair loss and would often reflect to me who I reminded him of during the regrowth stages.
My hair which used to be long and poker straight is now short and extremely curly. As I attempt to grow some length, I have mastered the art of keeping it pinned back with a fairly tidy style.
Today, seeing that I was just going to be having a day about the house I let it dry naturally without any product or styling.
My husband looked at me tonight while we were eating dinner with a smile that meant I was amusing him somehow. "What? Why are you looking at me like that?" I asked.

He revealed that my unruly hair made me look like Michael Hutchence from INXS. I must confess that when I actually take a look in the mirror I can see the resemblence.

Song Of The Day: Mama He Treats Your Daughter Mean By Ruth Brown

Ruth Brown was an American R&B singer, and actress noted for bringing a popular music style to rhythm and blues in a series of hit songs for fledgling Atlantic Records in the 1950s. For these contributions, Atlantic became known as "The house that Ruth built."
