Products I Want To Check Out

I have wavy, coarse hair, and of course when I try and straighten it, it kind of frizzes out when I walk outside. I thought this product might help.

Spa Footie for women by Airplus. Wear these like slippers and they moisturize your feet. Sounds very soothing after a long 12 hour day shift.

I saw similar book ends at Chapters and the giraffe one was in buttercup yellow. It was new and fresh and it caught my eye.

I think good skin reveals good health and am always at different skin care products. I think I might give this cleanser a try.

Now Doesn't This Sound Yummy?

I generally have one cup of coffee a day, in the morning. However in the winter I generally have a craving for a cup in the late afternoon when it’s cold outside.
Now here is a recipe I found online for an afternoon coffee with a twist.
1 cup of Coffee
1 serving of Hot Chocolate
1 shot of Butterscotch Schnapps

Right Now......

Outside My Window... snow and sunshine.
I am excited about ... going out on a date with Hubby to check out
Winterlicious.
I am thinking... that my coffee tastes mighty good even without the sweetener that I am trying to give up.
I am thankful for... family, old friends, new friends & good memories.
From the kitchen... It is early morning the coffee is brewing. Chickens for
tomorrow nights dinner are in the fridge thawing and I am blogging while everyone else is sleeping.
I am wearing... yoga pants and swearshirt. Adorable & cozy slippers made by my friend Pams grandmother.
I am hearing... peace and quiet.
I am reading...
Books about health, Mistaken Identity, The Help.
One of my favorite things from the past week... being able to get some running time in at the gym at work.....7 miles.
Around the house... as much time as I've spent on cleaning the house in the last month you would think my house would look like a magazine spread ... but sadly it looks like it hasn't been touched.
I am going ... into Toronto tonight to check out
this restaurant duing Winterlicious.
A Few Plans In the Works: I still need to get going on painting the living room.

Being Busy Is Bad

Once upon a time I was a “Busy Woman.”
But when I became a mother, I decided to change that forever.
After racing around from commitment to commitment for most of my adult life, I discovered that business was not what I wanted to model for my children. Instead, I took control of my schedule and chose to lead a Non-Busy Life.
Here’s why.......

Being busy makes us less productive and less effective. Who has time to actually sit and talk on the phone without also sorting mail or folding laundry? Who can listen to our children study spelling words without also checking e-mails and texts? Who can carpool every day without trying to redeem some of that lost time by also returning phone calls? We could….if we weren’t so busy. Contrary to what I used to believe (and practice) multitasking makes me less productive than I would be if I stopped and concentrated on one task at a time.

Being busy makes us sick. When we are too busy, we become stressed-out. And stress causes countless health problems, including headache, back pain, chest pain, heart palpitations, high blood pressure, decreased immunity, stomach upset, anxiety, depression, over-eating, and sleep disorders. And about fifty more that I didn’t list. Who needs that?

Being busy makes us unavailable to people. When was the last time you sat and talked to a dear friend or took a leisurely walk with your child? When was the last time you lingered with your spouse over lunch or stopped and chatted with a stranger at Starbucks? Most of us have a long list of people we’d call, invite over, visit or write…if only we had more time.

Clearly, business steals more from us and from the people we love than we realize. Take a look at your schedule this week and see if there is something you can scratch from your calendar. There’s never been a better time to get your busy life under control.

Mental Health Stamp

For the first time in history, Canada Post is asking Canadians to submit and vote on the design that will become a Canadian postage stamp. From November 8, 2010 until January 10, 2011, Canadians were invited to submit designs online to www.deliverhope.ca. The submission that proves most popular online will become one of 20 semi-finalists to be submitted to Canada Post’s Stamp Advisory Committee (SAC). The remaining 19 semi-finalists will be chosen, from all remaining entries, by an advisory panel including mental health experts, consumers, representatives from the Canada Post Foundation for Mental Health and stamp and design experts from Canada Post. One of those designs will become the 2011 Mental Health stamp.

Stamp designs are seen by millions of Canadians; they have incredible power to invite conversation. This is an opportunity to convey important themes about mental health in a single image and make the winning stamp an ambassador for awareness. The SAC will choose five designs from the 20 semi-finalists. These five designs will be voted on by the public from February 14 to March 14. The winning design will be announced in April 2011.

Canada Post made mental health its cause of choice in 2008. Since then, customers, employees, suppliers and the public have raised more than $2.5 million for the Canada Post Foundation for Mental Health. Some $600,000 of that was from sales of the 2008 and 2009 mental health stamps. Canada Post recently issued the 2010 mental health stamp, which is intended to help the company reach its $2 million campaign goal. A dollar from every mental health stamp booklet sold supports the Foundation.

The Foundation provides critical funding to community based, non-profit groups helping people living with mental illness – a growing legacy of support for the more than 7 million Canadians who will need help with mental health problems this year. Over $2.5 million in grants have been distributed, to organizations across the country, by the Foundation.

These ones here were designed by a fellow staff member of Ontario Shores

Snowdays

It’s another snow day here in Bowmanville. And that means three things:

1. Bowmanvillians are very afraid to drive on any amount of snow. Very, very afraid.

2. My To-Do list is totally shot, again.

Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE me a good snow day. I like to make a big ‘ole pot of something hot. I have been known to stay in jammies all day. I get all-nostalgic, remembering as a child playing in four-foot snow drifts, and thawing out in front of the heating vent with a cup of hot chocolate.

Sanow Daya means tomorrow’s chores instantly multiply. And I already feel like I don’t have enough hours in the day to do all I need to do today. Know what I’m saying?

So, this morning as I lay in bed, I think about everything I intended to do today that won’t happen. And in my pre-caffeinated anxiety, I think...... tomorrow
is another day.

Cameron Diaz Bought Pot Froom Snoop Dog In Highschool

Before Cameron Diaz became a big time star in films like The Mask, she was just a typical California girl....whoom like some high-school students she smoked weed.

Anne Hathaway To Play Catwoman

Christopher Nolan made the announcement recently that Anne Hathaway has been cast for the part of Selina Kyle A.K.A. Catwoman. It was also announced earlier that Tom Hardy (Inception) had been cast in an unknown role. The director confirmed that he would be playing the character of Bane.
Many are doubtful but I think she can pull it off.

Is anyone else surprised this girl is still alive?

Present Face

I Love Ricky Gervais

Ricky Gervais's is always insulting, yet always intelligent at the same time and if the Hollywood Foreign Press was expecting anything different than what he's done with the majority of his work then they need a better hiring department.

Ricky Gervais is one of the funniest people in the world, so here are some of my favorite clips of him tackling truly offensive material in such an artful way,
that what he did at the Golden Globes not only makes sense, but was absolutely hilarious

I sometimes think the Hollywood royalty takes itself far too seriously.

Cute You Tube Video

Check out this father and daughter (Jorge & Alexa Narvaez) doing an acoustic cover of Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros’ song “Home.” It’s kind of a killer. Like, When Alexa turns to her dad halfway through and says, “One day I’m gonna whistle?”, I think I fell in love.

Unintentionally Funny

This is weird......I am not sure who is more turned on watching this......The Pope, the bishops or the nuns.

Winter Season Of TV

I need more TV shows to watch like I need another piece of chocolate. But over the next few weeks some new shows are going to debut in just about every genre and time slot.

I really should just look the other way. But it’s so hard.

Here’s what I’ll be trying out...... and possibly adding to my regular viewing schedule.

1.) Off The Map (January 12 10 pm) ....Unusually attractive doctors perform miracles and engage in overly dramatic relationships in the South American jungle. Okay, so that’s not exactly the official description, but come on. It’s made by the same people who created Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice. I know what kind of show this will be. And I am powerless to resist it.

2.)
Body Of Proof (March 29) .....Dr. Megan Hunt (Desperate Housewives' Dana Delany) plays a feisty neurosurgeon whose career ends after a car accident. She takes a job as a medical examiner in Philadelphia, where she helps cops solve murders by "reading the body."

3.) Criminal Minds: Suspect Behaviour (Feb 16)......Dr. Megan Hunt (Desperate Housewives' Dana Delany) plays a feisty neurosurgeon whose career ends after a car accident. She takes a job as a medical examiner in Philadelphia, where she helps cops solve murders by "reading the body."

4.)
Fairly Legal (Jan 20).....Sarah Shahi (The Sopranos, Life) stars as Kate Reed, a talented litigator who tires of unjust bureaucracy and so becomes a mediator, aka the anti-lawyer. While she settles everyone else's affairs, Kate's own life is complicated by entanglements with her newly widowed stepmother/boss (Virginia Williams) and Kate's ex-husband (Battlestar Galactica's Michael Trucco).

5.) Happy Endings (April 13) .....Alex (24's Elisa Cuthbert) and Dave (FlashForward's Zachary Knighton) had the perfect life together with a great relationship and a close group of friends — that is, until Alex leaves Dave at the altar. Now the former couple’s mutual best friends must suffer through the awkward aftermath and pick up the pieces, but only time will tell which ex gets custody of the friends. Saturday Night Live's Casey Wilson co-stars.

6.) Harrys Law (Jan 17)..... From David E. Kelley (The Practice, Ally McBeal) comes this legal dramedy staring Kathy Bates as Harriet "Harry" Korn, a patent lawyer who is abruptly fired from her blue-chip law firm. She finds new meaning in her work when she takes on the case of a college kid (Aml Ameen) and sets up an office in an abandoned shoe store, where Harriet's Law and Fine Shoes is born.

7.)Shameless (January 9).......John Wells (ER) and Paul Abbott (State of Play) oversee this remake of the successful British series about six siblings who keep their family afloat while caring for their alcoholic dad. William H. Macy (Fargo) and Emmy Rossum (The Phantom of the Opera) star.

8.) Shedding For The Wedding (February 23)......It’s The Biggest Loser-meets-Bridezillas. This reality competition puts 10 overweight couples in the same house where they compete to lose the most weight over three months. Each week, the couple that loses the least gets sent packing, and the last pair standing win an all-expenses paid wedding — and dream figures to match. Sara Rue (Less Than Perfect) hosts. .

Brittneys New Song Has Leaked

The song title sounds like a cheesy pickup line from a bar. “If I said I want your body now, would you hold it against me?” But I like the song, despite the goofy lyrics.

Check it out.

The Beckhams Are Expecting

Congratulations and lets hope for a girl.

Right Now......

Outside My Window... It's a cold, crisp day out there, but the sun is shining and that makes everything okay with me.
I am excited about ... going tubing with my girls this weekend.
I am thinking... that I really should be finishing up my book for bookclub tomorrow.
I am thankful for... my family, my friends, each new day and the opportunities and journeys that await me.
From the kitchen...I recently made this new recipe and it was well received by my family. I usually make this version but decided to try one that is baked in the oven instead of the slow cooker. My only suggestion is to not use all of the breadcrumbs. It was way too much and it took away from some of the creaminess of the casserole.
I am wearing... jeans and a white long sleeve T-shirt with a Reebok logo on it.
I created this week ... I made bookmarks with one of my patients and she thought I was the most talented woman....ha,ha,ha....I love my job.
I am reading... Gods behaving badly and I also have three or four books sitting, waiting for me. I've been wanting to start one of them, but I've been lacking in my zest for reading.
I am hearing... the sound of the furnace blowing warm air throughout the house. I'm very grateful. My husband watching Da Vinci's inquest on Television.
I am wondering ... if my sister in law is going to be able to join me and the family on the weekend at Snow Valley.
One of my favorite things ... checking out all the deals being offered on WagJag and GroupOn.
Around the house... I am constantly finding trinkets and toys left by Alley....markers and paper on the kitchen table, Nintendo DS on the coffee table, socks on the living room floor, sunglass case on chair in living room, library card on hallstand, magazine and books in my car, etc, etc.
I am going ... to the grocery store to pick up some Russian Salad dressing to prepare tonights dinner of Meatballs and Rice.
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week........cleaning, dentist appointment, book club and lunch at The Walshs Snug, tubing at Snow Valley, 2 more day shiftsand possibly some overtime.
Some Pictures To Share.....Here are a few photos of 1.) My Uncle Tom doing some trick riding atop his horses 2.) My Uncle Tom and Aunt Janet promoting the Rodeo 3.) My Uncle Tom racing a plane 3.) My Uncle Tom and cousin Tom Jr. with Diane Keaton on MGMs set of Mrs. Soffel 4.) My Uncle Tom and Tom Junior with Matthew Modine and Mel Gibson on MGMs set of Mrs Soffel

Accents

My husband is very good with accents and finds it amusing to go through the Tim Hortons drive in with a strong Scottish accent and then when he rolls up to the window he presents as himself. I have often wondered if the employees are wondering when the Scottish guy is going to show up or are they are on to Garth and his games. My daughters are his biggest fans and always finding his antics with accents hilarious.
